👍 National volunteer week🪖

While Army Cadets is all about the cadets, every Unit, Company, Battalion, and activity relies on a dedicated team of Army Cadet Staff working behind the scenes to support and guide them.

At 66 ACU, we currently have two ACS, with another joining soon, and we’re always looking for more people to join the team!

LT(AAC) Scarborough is our current Interim Officer Commanding (OC). He has been with 66 ACU for four years and has supported numerous activities during that time. Before becoming an ACS member, LT(AAC) Scarborough was a cadet at 60 ACU back when it was located in Warrane.

2LT(AAC) Bowerman is our current Administration Officer. She’s usually the one behind the camera or helping cadets prepare for upcoming camps and activities. 2LT(AAC) Bowerman has been with 66 ACU for two years and has also taken part in multiple activities during her time with the unit.

If you’re interested in giving back to the community, developing new skills, and helping support the next generation of young leaders, maybe army cadets is for you. Volunteering with Army Cadets is a rewarding experience, and no prior cadet experience is required.

👏Thank you to CAPT (AAC) Bott✨

This past wednesday night, 66 ACU Kingston said goodbye to our Unit OC, Captain(AAC) Bott, as she moves on to her new posting with RSU.

We thank CAPT(AAC) Bott for her leadership, support, and dedication to the unit during her time at Kingston. Her contribution to both staff and cadets has been greatly appreciated, and she leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes.

CAPT(AAC) Bott had been with our unit since the start of her ACS career in 2019, and she eventually made her way to the position of unit commander nearly 3 years ago now, in 2024.

We wish CAPT(AAC) Bott every success in her new role with RSU.

In the interim between OC's, Lieutenant(AAC) Scarborough will be stepping up as Acting OC, we also wish him luck with running 66 in this time!

❗A reminder to all our cadets who bus on Wednesday nights!

Bus time tables have recently changed, and may affect your typical route to many Units starting this week.

⚠️ Please make sure to check for any changes here; https://www.transport.tas.gov.au/public_transport/network-review

Or simply use Google or apple maps to find out the best bus route to get you here safe and on time.

🚌 Remember if you come to unit via public transport or walking, please arrive in civilian attire and get changed here!

We look forward to seeing all of you back this week!

🚨 Important Information 🚨

We wish to advise that, due to unforeseen circumstances and limited personnel and cadet availability, we are unfortunately unable to participate in the main march through the Hobart CBD this year.
Our capacity has been significantly impacted as we are currently supporting more than a dozen catafalque parties across the southern region of Tasmania. As a result, we are unable to form a platoon to enter the march; this was confirmed during this weekend’s ANZAC Preparation Camp.

Accordingly, no cadet is to attend the main march in uniform under any circumstances.Cadets who wish to watch the parade may do so in civilian attire only.
Cadets who are participating in a Dawn or Morning Service at an RSL and wish to attend the main march after their duties have been completed must change into plain civilian attire prior to attending.

We understand this is not an ideal situation; however, we are looking into plans for more support, options and availability for the wider community for Anzac Day 2027 in conjunction with RSL Tasmania.

Any queries please contact Unit ACS.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

⛑️END OF NIGHT ACTIVITY✨

This past Wednesday our cadets here at 66ACU had some fun with a medical exercise!

They had to locate and assist 'injured' personnel, all while maintaining a harbour with 'civilians' trying to occupy the area. (Who were played by CDTSGT Miles and CDTSGT Nielsen-Beck)

This activity allowed our Cadets to practise skills like; field first aid, maintaining a Platoon harbour, conflict resolution, and creative problem solving.

Overall a fun way to learn new skills, and end the night!

Think you know someone who might be interested in joining 66ACU? It's not too late to join us for Term 1!
