Wildlife Safe Tasmania

Wildlife Safe Tasmania We are committed to making Tassie a safer place for our wonderful unique wildlife. Welcome to our page.

Through education and sharing a powerful message that Tassie’s wildlife matter, we hope to create a kinder, safer Tassie for them. 🙏 We are a newly formed local community group, passionate about and committed to making Tasmania's roads and communities a safer place for our incredibly unique and diverse wildlife and community members. Collectively, we bring many years of experience as carers, resc

uers and advocates for Tassie’s wildlife. Many of us have spent hours, months, even years feeding and caring for orphaned joeys and injured animals. We've driven kilometres day after day to collect severely injured animals who may have suffered a fractured pelvis, or significant head trauma having spent the night lying in agony in a gutter, for example. They are the lucky ones, others suffer for days and die slowly and painfully, if they're not found or reported by a member of the community. In fact, their suffering has moved each and every one of us so deeply, we are committed to forming a community-based program that aims to work collaboratively with local community members, relevant stakeholders, councillors and our state government, to reduce their suffering on Tassie's roads. Of equal significance, is the number of motor vehicle traumas and injuries caused to human life whilst trying to avoid animals on the road. In short, we feel confident that the toll on human and animal life can be reduced by implementing cost-effective management strategies.
