The AFES Board are delighted to announce that, God willing, the new AFES National Director will be Peter Sorrenson, starting in early 2026

Pete brings a life of commitment to student ministry and mission, from serving as the Student President in his university days, as a Ministry Apprentice with AFES, leading the staff team at Deakin University, and more recently serving as Regional Team Leader for Victoria, on the National Leadership Team and Executive.

AFES was blessed to have a number of godly, passionate, capable, and experienced candidates – both from within and beyond AFES – open to taking on the role. We wish to thank them for making themselves available to God’s leading through this process.

Our prayer is the Lord Jesus would continue to grow the number of students committing and committed to his great commission of taking the gospel to all nations with all our ministry partners. Pete brings a passion for evangelism and training to the role, and we look forward to what the Lord will do through us all in this next season.

We also praise God for Richard Chin’s godly and faithful leadership of AFES for 23 years. AFES is greatly indebted to how he has led us, keeping us focused and growing our capacity to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord to the glory of God. We wish Richard the very best in his next chapter of service.
