Kingscliff Lions Club We are a community based organisation that is part of The International Association of Lions Clubs. Our motto is 'We Serve'.

The Lions Club of Kingscliff was formed in 1957. We have been involved in numerous community events serving our community and beyond. Current projects include Beachside Markets, Smoke Alarm Safety Programme, Carols on the Beach at Christmas, and Australia Day BBQ Breakfast to name just a few.

Kingscliff Lions are busy again today at the Kingscliff hotel with the pub raffles …meat and seafood trays !
The jackpot increases weekly until won and this week it’s $1,100 !
All proceeds today will be donated to Legacy .

Kingscliff Lions successfully hosted the regional final of the
‘Youth of the Year’ last Sunday at St.Anthony’s Catholic school in Kingscliff .

We had four outstanding contestants….

Tess Ball…representing Ballina Lions club.

Claire McQueen … representing Casino Lions club .

Ruby Stafford … representing Kyogle Lions club.

Hailey Pickett …representing Kingscliff Lions club .

Each contestant presented themselves admirably with confidence and maturity beyond their years , showcasing their individual talents as well as their dreams for the future!

Each had a difficult time deciding a winner ……

Ruby Stafford … public speaking and overall winner !!

Ruby will now go on to represent Kyogle Lions at the district final to be hosted by the Runcorn Lions in Brisbane.

Our representative Hailey performed very well and we hope to see her again next year .

Kingscliff Lions
“Youth of the Year”
Recently , we held the public speaking component of the contest , the winner of this will go on to the zone .

We had two candidates from St.Joseph’s college Banora Point

Hailey Pickett
Caleb Matheson
also
Ben Delaney
from
Kingscliff High School

All three youths were very confident , enthusiastic and clearly spoken !
Each had very interesting , different topics which held
the audience’s attention.

Sadly only one can win …..
And the winner is :
Hailey Pickett !

Hailey spoke about her love of running and is aspiring to become an Olympic champion .
We have no doubt she will !!

Yesterday ,Kingscliff Lions shared an Australia Day event with Cudgen Surf club .
Although the day started off slow … things picked up quickly (as well as the heat!)
We provided a free breakfast of bacon and eggs / sausages and onions ,tea/coffee and juice.
The Uki refugee project presented a delicious international tasting buffet as well as a display of interesting stories !
Proceedings began with welcome to country by Ernie Williams ,followed by the Melody Makers singing the national anthem while the flag was raised by the nippers alongside the Aboriginal flag and Torres Strait islands flag .

Kingscliff fire and rescue were there with a static display also.

Last Tuesday evening ..9thDec.
We hosted our most successful Carols by the Coast !

A beautiful clear ,warm night was enjoyed by all in Rowan Robinson park .
A huge thankyou to Mr Geoff Dart for organizing our local schools and Melody Makers who provided the wonderful music and singing .
Thankyou also to Lindisfarne school for sound and lighting.


The night was also made fun with the sale of glow sticks and FREE soft drinks and sausage sizzles supplied by our hard working Lions members and friends , and members of Kingscliff men’s shed .

Kingscliff Lions club recently presented a young local boy … Floyd Morley with a customized bike specifically designed for ease of use and the freedom to ride with all the other kids !
The presentation was made by President Heather Oliver at our Carols on the Coast last Tuesday evening .
Floyd’s surprised smile and excitement brought joy to all ,especially our Lions members !
Wishing Floyd and family a Merry Christmas and many happy hours of safe riding !
