🌱 On-site. On-ground. Making a difference.

From planting native species and removing invasive w**ds to monitoring wildlife and connecting with the community through our Walk & Talk events.

At Dragonfly Environmental, we deliver on-ground restoration that helps nature thrive. 💚🐸

From w**ds to hope: a year of transformation in Penrith 🌱
This site was completely overtaken by Ludwigia peruviana, a highly invasive aquatic w**d that dominated the riverbank and surrounding areas.

Early in 2025, we began manual primary work.
After months of persistence, we completed the primary work and planted native species with confirmed local occurrence. A few months later, natural regeneration along the river began to emerge.

Now, by the end of the year, we see planted natives growing strong while others return naturally — a promising sign of ecological recovery.

It's not easy work, and the journey is far from over. But this transformation reminds our field teams why restoration matters.

Let’s keep restoring and regenerating in 2026! 💚

Bush regeneration is more than just restoring vegetation. It’s about restoring habitat.
Native fauna depends on healthy and diverse ecosystems to thrive, and their presence is a powerful sign that restoration efforts are working.
These camera trap recordings offer a glimpse into the wildlife quietly sharing the landscapes we care for.
For our team, each sighting is a reminder of why we do this work and a motivation to keep going.
We were especially excited to see the Powerful Owl, a threatened species that relies on large trees and healthy forest structure to survive.

🎥 Featuring: swamp wallaby, long-nosed bandicoot, swamp rat, powerful owl, brushtail possum and one curious wallaby checking the camera!

Proud to see our team featured by Sydney Olympic Park during Biodiversity Month!
Our supervisor Darrel appears in this video highlighting the ongoing efforts to restore and manage the critically endangered Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest.

🌿 This is a great example of collaboration, science-based management, and long-term commitment to biodiversity.

👏 Congratulations to Darrel and the whole Dragonfly team for their incredible work and dedication on this important site.

It’s National Wattle Day! 🌼

Today we celebrate Acacia, Australia’s national floral emblem, known for its vibrant yellow blossoms and ecological importance. Wattles play a key role in restoring landscapes, providing food and shelter for wildlife, and bringing bursts of colour to our bushland this time of year.

Look around—many are blooming right now!

Orchids in the wild 🌿✨
Over the past few weeks, the Dragonfly team has come across several native orchids blooming across our worksites — a special reward for those who take the time to look closely.

These delicate species are often tiny, seasonal, and beautifully adapted to their environments.
Swipe through to see some of the stunning finds:
🌱 Pterostylis nutans (Nodding Greenhood)
🌱 Corybas unguiculatus (Small Helmet-Orchid)
🌱 Acianthus fornicatus (Pixie Caps)
🌱 Pterostylis longifolia (Tall Greenhood)

These discoveries are a reminder of the biodiversity we help protect through ecological restoration and habitat care.

It’s Acacia season! 🌼💛

You’ve probably noticed the burst of golden flowers lighting up bushland, footpaths, and reserves this week. These bright yellow blooms belong to one of Australia’s most iconic plant groups: the Acacias.

There are over 1,000 species across the country and right now, many are flowering in full glory.

Here’s a closer look at just a few we’ve spotted on site this week:

📸 1. Acacia terminalis
📸 2. Acacia echinula
📸 3. Acacia elongata
📸 4. Acacia oxycedrus
📸 5. Acacia suaveolens
📸 6. Acacia ulicifolia
📸 7. Acacia rubida

Each with its own shape, size, and style—but all playing an important role in native ecosystems by fixing nitrogen, providing shelter, and supporting pollinators.

Next time you see a fluffy yellow bloom, take a moment to appreciate the Acacias and see how many species you can spot!

🌱 Before & After – Controlling Invasive Vines

Invasive vines may seem like just another green plant, but their impact on native ecosystems can be significant. These fast-growing climbers can smother trees, block sunlight, weigh down branches, and outcompete native species—ultimately disrupting entire habitats.

Effective vine control is essential to support regeneration, restore plant diversity, and protect the structure of native bushland.

The photos show a great example of this work in action at a site in North Richmond, where the Dragonfly team removed Cat’s Claw Creeper and Balloon Vine, giving native species the space and light they need to thrive again.
