Your contribution makes a difference not only to the organisations you support, but also to the lives of the clients those organisations assist every day.

By working together, we can reach more people, provide greater support and change more lives. We truly appreciate your partnership and commitment to the community.

Helping people into homes is obviously a huge part of what we do, but being able to give back and support some pretty incredible people and organisations along the way is something we’re really proud of too. 💙

Over the past year, we’ve been lucky enough to support JCP Youth, Cancer Council, New Horizons, Love Your Sister, Launceston Benevolent Society, Launceston BMX, Port Sorell Surf Life Saving, Kukua Foundation, Tour de Cure Aus and Surf Life Saving Vietnam.

All doing very different things, but all making a genuine difference in their communities.

We feel really lucky to be in a position where we can play even a tiny part in supporting the work they do.

And a very big thank you to our clients too. Because every person who chooses Up Loans is part of what allows us to keep giving back to the communities that support us.

Community generosity is always strong, and we simply wouldn’t be here without it.

For our upcoming ball, we’re showcasing uniquely Tasmanian prizes and experiences—especially those that money can’t buy. This one certainly belongs in that category.

Five members of the Jahobwhat Social Motorbike Club are generously giving up an afternoon to take five lucky friends on a ride through the beautiful Tasmanian countryside. It’s an incredible prize and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the scenery, the company and an experience to remember.

A huge thank you to the club members for their generosity and for donating their time. If you’re lucky enough to be attending this year’s event, get ready—when this prize comes up, it’s sure to be highly sought after.

Supporting our community in every way we can is our highest priority.

Last week, we received a request from Working Together Tasmania regarding a client who needed a safe car seat. The client lives with a disability and cannot drive. While her husband is at work, her mother helps transport her to appointments, shopping and other essential activities.

We were pleased to be able to assist by providing a suitable car seat. Carmel was extremely grateful to collect it today, knowing the difference it will make to her client’s life by helping her travel safely and remain connected to the community.

Each year, our major fundraiser provides vital support that enables us to assist people across the community. As a Tasmanian-based welfare agency, the generosity of Tasmanians and local businesses is central to our fundraising success.

Julie and Matt Cooper from Fannys Bay Distillery have consistently supported our events through both generous donations and attendance. We are incredibly grateful for their latest contribution: a money-can’t-buy wh**ky barrel that has held their beautifully aged wh**ky, one of their limited-release single malt bottles, and a stunning painting of the iconic Ross Bridge, created and donated by Julie herself.

Making exceptional Tasmanian wh**ky is not the Coopers’ only talent—Julie’s artistic flair is equally impressive. Their continued support means a great deal to us, and we sincerely thank them for helping strengthen our work in the community.

Today, we attended a school assembly at St Leonards Primary School, where students were recognised for their incredible efforts over the past month.

The students had worked hard to collect food to support people in our community who are doing it tough. We were very privileged to be one of the chosen charities to benefit from their generosity.

The children were incredibly proud of what they had achieved—and they should be. Their kindness and dedication will make a real difference to many local families.

You have done an amazing job, and we are so grateful for your great work. Thank you for helping make a difference in our community.

What do we do? Who do we help? These are questions we are asked every day.

Here is just one story of a family we were able to support.

A father of five came to us after being unable to return to work for four months because of an ongoing health issue. Although he had a job, his income had been replaced by sickness benefits, resulting in a significant reduction in his family’s finances.

Having never needed to access a service like ours before, he felt embarrassed and ashamed to ask for help. His family was feeling the strain, and they needed assistance with food to help them get through until his next payment.

When he arrived, he was clearly uncomfortable about needing support from a welfare agency. By the time he left, however, he felt much more at ease and was incredibly grateful for the food we were able to provide for his family.

He may never need to contact us again, as he expects to return to work. We were simply grateful that he reached out when his family needed help—and that we could support them through a difficult time.

This is what we do. We help local individuals and families facing unexpected hardship, ensuring they are treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

Thank you to everyone who generously donates much-needed items to LBS. Your support makes a real difference to people in our community.

At the moment, we have more than enough clothing. We can accept only small amounts of clean, good-quality summer clothing, as we do not have the facilities to store winter clothing until next year.

When sorting your wardrobe, please check that anything donated is:

Clean and in good, usable condition
Suitable for warmer weather
Something you would be happy to give as a gift

Our clothing-sorting team members are volunteers, and we do not have the facilities to wash or repair items. Please ask yourself: “Would I gift this to someone?”

Please also understand that if we are unable to accept your donation, it is because we do not have the space or capacity to store or process it. Please do not become upset or angry with our staff, who are doing their best to assist and are simply following our current donation guidelines.

Thank you for helping us make the best use of our limited storage space and volunteer time.
