🔥 National Volunteer Week 🔥

This week is National Volunteer Week, and the 2026 theme is “Your Year to Volunteer” ✌🏼

At KCRFB, we’re a group of like-minded individuals wanting to contribute to our community and help keep it safe.

Most importantly, we all come from different walks of life and each play a part, one way or another.

Some of us are on the end of the hose, while others prefer to keep the admin side in check.
Some of us work full time, while some are retired.
We have members who are parents and grandparents, members who travel often, and members who don’t.
Some can help with night shifts, while others are available during the day.

No matter what role you play, there’s a place for you here.

It’s not just about firefighting — it’s about supporting your community, building friendships, camaraderie, and making a difference. 🚒

So, make this “Your year to volunteer” and join us!
Drop us a message for more information.

Today we celebrate the women who prove every day that with enough patience, courage and coffee you can get through just about anything — including fire season.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums, step-mums, grandmums, and mum figures in our community!
Enjoy your day 🚒🔥🚒

Today we celebrate St Florian’s Day — a day that holds special meaning for firefighters around the world. St Florian is recognised as the patron saint of firefighters, known for his bravery and dedication to protecting others from fire and disaster.

This day is an opportunity to honour the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of all firefighters — past and present — who put themselves on the line to keep their communities safe. It’s also a time to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

To our brigade members and their families, thank you for your ongoing dedication, resilience, and service. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Stay safe, look out for one another, and take a moment today to reflect on the proud tradition we are part of.

Happy St Florian’s Day 🚒

There is currently a planned burn being undertaken in our local area by Forestry. Please do not be alarmed if you see/smell smoke over the next couple of days as this is to be expected.

If you do happen to see any unattended fires though, please do not hesitate to call 000 🔥

31/03/2026

Today, 31 March, marks the end of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) for the majority of NSW including Mid Coast and Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA.

While many landholders may no longer require a fire permit, you are still required to notify the RFS and your neighbours of your intention to burn at least 24 hours before lighting the fire.

For more information on the bush fire danger period and fire permits, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP

Today we sent a crew to help out with a fire at Nabiac.
It was a long hard day, with our crew needing to walk through scrub and use dry firefighting tools such as the rake hoe (aka McLeod tool), the axe and chainsaws (only for those qualified).
They’ve come home safe, though a little dirtier than when they left this morning…🙊
