Your KCA (Kilcunda Community Association) held its' AGM recently and for those that were unable to attend we thought we would share some key info. Your volunteers work tirelessly to provide events through the year including the Lobster Festival, Solstice Event, Biggest Morning Tea, Trivia nights and Wednesday Cuppa at the hall through the colder months. We often hear the question "Where does the money go from the Lobster Festival?" so we hope this goes some way to answering that question.
Some key outgoings (not a complete list) over the last financial year to June:
- Westernport Water - $1250
- Energy Australia - $848
- Insurance - Contents - $2352
- Insurance - Volunteers Insurance - $957
- Insurance - Business Insurance - $958
- Lease fee to BCSC - $412
- Food Registration with BCSC - $99
- New Key Lock Box - $280
- Hall Cleaning $1260
- New storage shed $13,000 (approx)
- New display fridge $1344
- Hosting community events $4600
- Storage costs (prior to new shed) $1800
- Repairs & maintenance $1300
- Professional fees (various Government agencies) $1900
And just by way of information it cost over $62,000 to run the Lobster Festival. This obviously includes lobsters but also security, marquees, permits, alcohol, food and much more. The hall also replaced all three split systems last year but helped out enormously by a grant from Bendigo Bank.
As a result of the successful 2026 event the KCA is refurbishing the dated kitchen in the Community Center in addition to the ongoing maintenance including repainting the decking around the hall.
