Q C W A Kilcoy Branch

Q C W A Kilcoy Branch An organization founded in Kilcoy 24th September 1924 in support of women and children. Hall / Hos The Hostel was added in 1955.

The Kilcoy branch of the QCWA was always active with fund raising efforts directed towards the needs of the community, including supporting the maternity wing at the hospital, starting a tuckshop at the primary school, supporting a child into Montrose Home, cardiophone for the Kilcoy Hospital, food parcels for the POWs and organising a rural school. It was originally built for waiting mothers. The

hostel has been used to accommodate working women and teachers. Today many people use the hostel for short stays including training nurses and temporary school teachers. It is also used for protective accommodation for abuse victims and emergency accommodation during flood times. QCWA meetings are held in the hall the 2nd Thursday of each month, Hoy is played the 3rd Thursday of each month. The card group meets here every Wedesday and Hospital visits remain part of regular branch activities. Our members feel the aims and objectives of 1924 are the same for today......To benefit the lives of not only women and children, but families and to give friendship and comfort o all at all times.

Kilcoy Branch monthly meeting tomorrow at 10am, in our hall at 33 Rose Street. Morning tea at 9.30. You're not a member? That's ok, you are welcome to join us. I wasn't a member when I attended my first meeting. Our Annual Meeting is on next month. We have just welcomed 3 new members, Patty, Zandra and Louisa. Thank you to our wonderful supporters. Through your help we are able to assist the victims/survivors of Domestic Violence, the homeless with lovely warm beanies, families struggling just to put food on the table, preemie babies, our hard-working Rural Fire Brigades, the list goes on. AND we get to share our time with wonderful people, yes, our QCWA members. Thank you to those who make donation which keep sour branch doing what we love, and that is helping others.

Yes, friendship is so important in our life. No man is an Island and we all need each other. Sometimes we can simply lend an ear and sometimes we need an ear to listen. We may not be able to fix the problems in your life but it is so lovely just knowing that the QCWA does not judge and is here for you and others. A cuppa and a chat can make such a big difference in the life of others. Have a good day.
