Kilcoy RSL would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended our first-ever Middle East Veterans’ Day Commemoration.

Held at the Memorial Wall in Kilcoy, the service was well attended by veterans who served in the Gulf War, Afghanistan and East Timor.

We greatly appreciate everyone who joined us to commemorate and honour those who served, and those who stayed afterwards to share in fellowship and a barbecue lunch at the Sub-Branch.

It was wonderful to see the community come together for this important occasion, and we look forward to making this an annual event.

25th Anniversary of Australian Service in Afghanistan

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Australian service in Afghanistan, recognising those who served and sacrificed during Australians involvement from 2001 to 2021.

Following the 11th of September 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States, Australian forces joined multinational efforts to support security in Afghanistan, stabilise the wider region, and counter terrorist activity.

From 2001 to 2021, more than 35,000 Australians deployed to Afghanistan. Of those who served, 47 died and some 263 were wounded.

The Kilcoy RSL will be conducting a commemorative service at the Memorial Wall McCauley Street Kilcoy on Saturday 10th of October, commencing at 1100. Guest speaker will be Blue Reidly OAM.

The service will be followed by a BBQ lunch, Veterans with their families, and members of the community are warmly invited to attend.
