👕 Bring up to 10 gently-used items (clothes, shoes, accessories – all sizes welcome!) to swap with others in our community.
🧵 Join a hands-on Repair Workshop and learn how to mend or alter your clothes, bring something you’d love to give new life to!

🍽️Tonight at our Welcoming Community Dinner

We came together to learn and share about October being Mental Health Awareness Month. Our guests ran some great mental wellbeing activities and shared info on where to get support including Sonder, STTARS, MariposaTrails Senderos de Mariposa, and The Lights Community and Sports Centre with Chair Yoga.

We also refreshed our Gratitude Tree 🌳🍁 everyone added a message about what brings them happiness.

What makes us happy and grateful is this wonderful community that shows up every month with delicious food, open hearts, and a real love for connecting, sharing and learning from one another. 💛

Ukrainian Art: Bridge to Belonging Exhibition, showcasing works by Ukrainian artists and their friends. Check out this lovely opportunity coming up!

We are excited to launch the Ukrainian Art: Bridge to Belonging Exhibition, showcasing works by Ukrainian artists and their friends.

🗓 Dates: 15 November – 7 December

Kilburn Community Centre has spent celebrating the incredible programs and activities that take place throughout the week - as a fierce and beautiful reminder that the centre welcomes and hosts everyone!

From soccer ⚽️ to knitting 🧶, English class to crafts, dancing 💃, music, playgroup and more, the centre is a thriving hub of belonging.

This is the beauty of Welcoming Week! Shining a light on the everyday acts of welcome, belonging and inclusion that happen in our communities year-round.

We loved the opportunity to join the groovers at Kilburn Community Centre line dancing this week!

Every Monday and Thursday, this group comes together to dance, have fun - and they definitely bring the vibes! This week they even danced with our “welcome” signs to really bring the message home - no matter who you are or where you come from, you deserve to belong.

What a day! ☀️🎉

Today we celebrated Welcoming Week with Welcomefest, and what a perfect day it was to bring our community together! From the incredible food, music and performances to the colourful market stalls and family-friendly activities, it was a celebration of culture, connection and what it truly means to belong 💛

No matter where you come from or who you are, when we lead with respect and open hearts, we create something pretty special. That’s what makes our community so strong and so worth celebrating.

With over 500 people coming through across the day, it was amazing to see both new and familiar faces discovering all the brilliant things happening right here in Kilburn. 🙌

This event was for the community, by the community and a huge shoutout to all the amazing community partners and volunteers who helped make today such a success. You’ve all helped create something we can be super proud of.

Australia’s multiculturalism is one of our greatest strengths, and today was a reminder of just how beautiful it is when we come together, share, learn and celebrate one another.

Belonging starts here. ❤️🌏

🎉 Not long now until Welcomefest! 🎉

Come and join us this Saturday for a day full of music, dance, and culture!

🕺💃 We've got 6 amazing performances to enjoy! Here's what's on:
🌞 CHONKAI – The name means "son of the sun" from the Wayuu language. This group loves to share traditional dances from Colombia and Latin America. Get ready to move!
🌿 Robert Taylor – Robert will share the meaning of "Welcome" in Kaurna and teach us about our wonderful local Aboriginal culture. A beautiful moment to learn and connect.
✨ Rosaria – Middle Eastern Dance – Rosaria has danced for over 20 years. She will show us the power and beauty of Egyptian-style dance. It’s graceful, joyful, and full of heart.
💃 Dancing Divas – These 4 talented women will perform Bharatnatyam, a traditional South Indian temple dance. Their movements tell stories and honour the old ways.
🎶 Adelindo – Indonesian Angklung Music – Come hear the sounds of Angklung, a bamboo instrument from Indonesia. The group will even let you try one out!
🥁 African Soul Drummers – Feel the rhythm! This group uses drumming to bring people together. Music, fun, health, and joy for everyone – no matter your age or background.

🥟 United by Dumplings, Connected by Community 🌍💛

Tonight, we kicked off Welcoming Week in the most delicious way — with our Welcoming Community Dinner featuring dumplings from around the world! 🌍
From crispy to chewy, steamed to stuffed — we were on a roll 🍥 with an amazing lineup of homemade dumplings that had everyone saying, "You gotta bao-lieve it!"

Thank you to everyone who accepted our Dumpling Challenge and brought your unique twist on these little pockets of joy. Every bite was a taste of culture, connection, and community 💛

Because when it comes to belonging, nothing brings people together like food — and tonight, we all felt right at home, one dumpling at a time.
