Good day to all Kiama Game fishing club members. A reminder that we shall have our annual general meeting on Saturday 5th of September, 3pm down at Kiama Harbour next to the fishing sheds (weather dependent).
Please come along, renew your membership for the 2026/27 season. We need more members to get involved, have a say in how the club should be run and the direction to follow. We will follow up with a few beers and pizza.

For the keen snapper fishers amongst us a few boats are looking to fish the morning session prior to the AGM and knock off Kaine Clarkes heaviest fish so far (62cm long length).

There are still reports of Tuna about so the winter Tuna comp is open for improvement on Jake Willicks 61.5kg yellowfin. Remember weekend only and caught in our local waters.

Great fishing to all and look forward to a good roll up on the 5th of September.

Club boats You’re Fired and Ka Chow got amongst the Tuna . Casey Rogers with a 100kg top water caught Blue Fin . Stu with another of 70 kg and Mitch Williams , Sandy Goreki on Ka Chow with a brace of Yellowfin. Fish were caught out of Ulladulla Saturday and Sunday . Caseys fish was a two hour fight after the reel clamp disintegrated and was repaired with electrical tape !

On the back of Dans great day out the You’re Fired crew put to sea on a glassy calm Saturday morning. Unfortunately as happens during winter the Westerly increased in strength and by the time we put the lures in around 150 Fathoms we had around 20knots gusting to 25 at times and an unfriendly sea.
We decide to run only three lures , a Pro Fidgee on the long rigger. a small JB mid way back and a Halco laser Pro in short. After only 45 mins and in around 450fathoms the Halco was taken. Jake Willick then fought this fish for 3hrs on 24KG line , for the first two hours we didn’t see the fish and then the last hour after confirming it was a nice Yellowfin had it pin wheeling just under the boat out of gaffing range. After a few tense moments we managed to get a gaff in and haul the fish over the gunwale. A few photos before putting the fish on ice and we turn into the slop for a slow trip back in . Back in Kiama Harbor and onto the scales at 61.5kg. First tuna for the winter competition.

The Yellowfin Tuna have shown up with Dan Vrckoski and crew started the ball rolling with a midweek run out wide. The SST showed a good temp break and zero line just North East of Kiama in around 500Fathoms.In near perfect conditions Dan found the edge and was rewarded with plenty of hookups on small Fin before getting a triple hookup on some nice 25 to 30 kg models. Plenty of Sauries showering during the day and a fair bit of bird action chasing the schools of Tuna. Water temperature around 20.5 .

KIAMA GFC Shines at Port Stephen’s Interclub!!
Team Zorro took out champion boat Tag n release with Haley Bonnicci champion female angler.
Team Kiama with Sondal Bensan ( Pro Fish Ent ) Mike Bonnicci (Zorro) and Jamie Bezzinna (Triple B) taking out champion team tag n release for Kiama GFC.
