GERRINGONG CHRISTMAS PARADE 🎄🕺🐕

On Saturday, our team were incredibly glad to look after the Gerringong Christmas Parade for another year!

With over thirty floats (plus one donkey) and hundreds of spectators lining the streets, it was a fantastic afternoon filled with community spirit, festive cheer, and plenty of smiling faces. Our volunteers were proud to be on hand to help keep everyone safe so the celebrations could be enjoyed by all.

Next stop: some well-earned rest and relaxation for the Kiama team 😴

SHELLHARBOUR COMMUNITY CHURCH CAROLS 🎵🎄✨

It was another incredible evening working alongside our friends at Shoalhaven Combined Division and Bulli Combined Division, to support the Shellharbour Community Church Carols.

As families and community members came together to enjoy the festive atmosphere and Christmas spirit, our volunteers were providing first aid and loud singing, enjoying being part of another great local community event.

Congratulations to our very own Robbie Dinich, long-time volunteer with Kiama Combined, keen advocate for Cadet membership, and recently appointed Regional South Zone Officer for Youth! 👏👏👏

On behalf of the St John NSW Nominations & Awards Committee, we have the privilege to share the news announced by The Priory relating to The Order of St John 2025 Admissions and Promotions.

The Order of St John is a Royal Order of Chivalry of the British Crown, in recognition of its establishment of the healthcare charity St John Ambulance. This means that the Order can award honours to people, recognising their good works.

KIAMA CAROLS IN THE PARK 🌠🎄🎶

Ho ho ho - the festive season has officially begun! And what a way to start, with the Kiama Carols in the Park! 🎄

Hosted by the Kiama Combined Churches, Hindmarsh Park came alive with festivity, joy, and plenty of song and dance.

Our Kiama team was out in force, joined by our long-time member and the newly appointed St John First Aid Regional South Zone Officer for Youth. Together, we watched the Christmas cheer work its magic - even keeping the rain away so Santa could make his grand entrance with our friends over at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 346 Kiama!

We were also visited by our youngest potential member yet! Eddy, aged 3 (blurred in photos to follow St John’s social media policy), already dreams of becoming a Paramedic and told us he’s happy to wait the 10 years before he can start volunteering with us.

GOOD THINGS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2025 🤘💥🎫

On Saturday, three members from Kiama Combined joined the Major Events Team at Good Things Festival at Sydney Showground!

Our team worked backstage at Stage 1, delivering care ranging from complex extrications to serious medical presentations requiring transport to the on-site medical centre staffed by St John Healthcare Professionals.

They also supported plenty of festival-goers who wandered in as “walk-ins” for self-serve or minor treatment - no surprise given the 40-degree heat (no exaggeration! 😟). In total, a few hundred party-goers were helped throughout the event, ensuring everyone ended their evening on a high note.

Our volunteers said they loved the challenge of putting their clinical skills to the test in such a dynamic environment, and they’re now enjoying some well-earned rest! 😴

Next up: festival season across the Illawarra! 🎄

2025 ST JOHN AMBULANCE ANNUAL AWARDS – Congratulations Team! 💚🎉

A huge congratulations to our incredible volunteers Tim and James for their achievements at today’s St John Ambulance Annual Awards!

Tim was recognised with the Second Bar to his Service Medal, marking an incredible 20 years of dedicated service. His commitment, reliability, and ongoing contribution to patient care and community safety are an inspiration to us all at Kiama Combined.

James received the National Emergency Medal for his work during the NSW 2022 Floods, acknowledging his exceptional service, resilience, and willingness to step up for communities in crisis.

Cheering them on in the crowd were our proud Cadet Leader Harrison and 2IC Melissa.

Congratulations once again to Tim, James, and to all the other deserving award recipients across St John NSW. Thank you for your service, your heart, and your commitment to helping others 💚

2025 MS GONG RIDE 🚲🚑🍏

The MS Gong Ride one of our biggest and most anticipated St John Major Events, close to home in both geography and our hearts. ❤️

With nine medical posts from the starting line in Sydney to the finish line in Wollongong, Kiama Combined Division proudly covers the Scarborough Public School post each year, supporting those riding for Multiple Sclerosis.

This year was one of our biggest Kiama coverages yet! Our team was busy cheering on the riders and providing first aid support. From cramps and headaches to sore knees, backs, and a few sunscreen-in-the-eye incidents, our crew kept riders smiling and moving ☀️

As always, it was fantastic to share the post with Wollongong Division as the Mobile Event Response Team and NSW Ambulance. Interagency bonding and knowledge sharing at its best! 🚑

JAMBEROO CAR SHOW AND FAMILY DAY 🛻☀️🚒

It was an early start for our crew in Jamberoo this morning, but one we look forward to each year: the Jamberoo Car Show & Family Day!

With help from our good friends at Shoalhaven Combined Division, our crew of one Cadet First Aider, two First Aiders, and one First Responder, it was a day of vital sign checking and self-treatments for the community that came down to check out the classic and vintage cars.

BERRY SPRING HORSE SHOW 🐂 🤠☀️

What a weekend at the Berry Agricultural Show - Show Horse Section !

Our crew of one Cadet First Aider, one First Aider, one First Responder, and one EMT (including a mother-daughter duo 💚) kept things running smoothly, treating three patients, two of which were horse-related injuries.

As always, our team was ready to respond when needed.

NOWRA PROFESSIONAL BULLRIDERS 🐂 🤠☀️

When Kiama Combined Division received a last-minute call for help to cover PBR Australia’s Nowra leg of the Monster Energy Tour, our crew of two First Responders and one First Aider put their hands up, unsure of what to expect.

What they were met with was a crowd of approximately 2500 loud, fun, and highly energetic rodeo-lovers! There was all the usual suspects - bandaids and ice packs from dancing too hard - and some curveball cases that allowed the crew to flex their skills and critical thinking.

2025 KIAMA NETBALL SEASON ❤️💙🤍🏐

Congratulations to Kiama Netball Association for another successful netball season!

Your St John volunteers have been there through the wins and the loses, the highs and the lows, the frustration and the learning opportunities. We’ve given out countless bandaids as you’ve broken in new netball shoes, and we’ve given out numerous ice packs for when you “landed weirdly” 😆. Our team have spent hundreds of hours learning the rules of netball every Saturday (and let’s be honest, some of us are still scratching our heads at “replay” 🤔).

We’ve watched the littlest players grow in confidence, the juniors step up into intermediates, and the seniors show grit, determination, and a whole lot of teamwork. 💪 So here’s to rest, recovery, and coming back even stronger in 2026!

Kiama Combined Division have been celebrated amongst our friends at Bulli and Wollongong Divisions at the Illawarra regional ceremony for The Centre for Volunteering Volunteer of the Year Awards! 🎉

Kiama Combined were nominated for Volunteer Team of the Year, with added nominations for Adult Volunteer of the Year James and Tim, and Young Volunteer of the Year for volunteers Ashanti (pictured), Elise, Harrison, Kyle, Lara, Joelie (pictured), Justin!

As Kiama Combined’s membership spreads beyond the Illawarra, we also had members nominated in other regions such as South West Sydney for 2IC Melissa.
