Rotary Club of Kiama

The Rotary Club of Kiama began its International Night by choosing a restaurant. We thank the chefs at the Kiama Golf Club for providing a variety of delicious international dishes. The evening celebrated Rotary’s global reach and our club's impact internationally.

Members and partners heard Past District Governor and Kiama Rotary member Tonia Barnes describe projects supported by donations from the Rotary Club of Kiama. She outlined Rotary’s response to the recent natural disaster in Nepal, including temporary shelter and essential supplies provided to families through Rotary International’s ShelterBox. Member Marilyn Jarrett reflected on Nepalese culture and her 2024 visit. To illustrate how cooperation achieves positive outcomes, she shared the story of “The Four Harmonious Friends.”

We also learned that the wider Illawarra Rotary clubs contributed to Rotary's Polio Eradication project, and how the Gates Foundation matched this donation at a 2-to-1 rate.

A chocolate bar or a life-saving vaccine - what would you choose?

Isn't amazing to think that something we enjoy in a few bites can cost more than a vaccine that protects a child from polio.

This World Polio Day, 24 October, let's remember that small contributions can make a BIG difference.

The sweetest victory? A world without polio! 🌍❤️
