Last week, a national survey revealed that one-third of respondents had skipped meals because they could not afford to buy food.
This actually happens in Kiama!!!!
We know because we’ve had these conversations at The Everyday Table.
We’ve spoken with people who are carefully calculating every dollar before they shop. People who are making difficult decisions about which bills get paid first. People who are going without so that their children can eat.
The rising cost of living isn’t something happening somewhere else. It’s affecting people in our own community.
That’s why The Everyday Table exists.
While we may not have the full range of products you’d find at a supermarket, every dollar saved on groceries can help free up money for rent, electricity, fuel, medications, school costs, and other essential needs.
But it’s about more than affordable food. It’s about community, dignity, care and connection. It’s about creating a place where people can gather around a table, share a meal, and know they are not alone.
If the cost of living is putting pressure on your household budget, we encourage you to come along.
