IN LOVING MEMORY πŸ’– Dr Ian Clarke Thompson.
The Old Haileyburians Association are saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Ian Clarke Thompson.

Dr Thompson was a Haileybury parent and a member of the College Council from 1976–1997. He acted as Convenor of the Property Committee from 1983–1997 and served as Secretary of Council from 1986–1997.

He played a crucial role in the purchase of the Berwick site and in the earliest development of that campus. In addition, he oversaw a period of dramatic building and expansion at Keysborough, ranging from the construction of Aikman Hall, to the completion of Newlands Preparatory School and the construction of the Bradshaw Chapel.

Dr Thompson played a very significant part in shaping the physical structure of Haileybury as it exists today. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Haileybury, Dr Thompson was elected a Life Governor of the School.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Dr Thompson’s family, including wife Di, sons, David (OH 1977), John (OH 1980) and Ross (OH 1982) and daughter, Naomi.

A memorial service for Dr Thompson will be held at Haileybury Keysborough in the David Bradshaw Chapel at 11.00am on Wednesday 10th June. The service will be streamed at the following link - https://vimeo.com/event/5977417

Being part of the OHA Council has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Working alongside such inspiring people has been a highlight; I’ve gained a lot from their perspectives. It’s given me valuable insight into how an organisation like this operates behind the scenes. Through my experience on the council, I’ve developed skills that I will carry forward in both my personal and professional life. It’s also been especially meaningful to contribute to something I care about and promote the wonderful opportunities the OHA offers.

πŸ’¬ James Kemper (OH 2012 and Vice President)
I have had the privilege of serving on the OHA Council for 11 years, taking on a variety of roles throughout that time. The Council complements the brilliant work of the OHA Office, and aims to cater for every one of our 20,000+ alumni. My time on the Council has allowed me to experience and grow as a board member, establish a wide network of friends and contacts, consider budgets and investment opportunities, and play a small role in creating the leading alumni association that the OHA is today. I would highly recommend applying to be a member of the Council.

Serving on the OHA Council is a tremendously rewarding experience personally and professionally. It enables you to be part of growing something really meaningful that touches the lives of many, while also building friendships, networks and governance experience in a supportive setting with a great team.
