Team Sri Lanka π±π° performed phenomenally at the Asia-Pacific World Powerlifting Tournament held in Australia, winning medal after medal for their country!
With a total tally of a staggering Silver, Bronze and no less than 10 Gold Medals for Sri Lanka, the 5 athletes brought glory to Sri Lanka, causing applause at the end of the victory ceremony, as the Vice-President of the World Powerlifting Association Robert Wilks, announced that the World Powerlifting Championship will be held in Sri Lanka, this November.
Lydia won five gold medals and one bronze medal for Sri Lanka, in the 100kg category.
Ruwan, the world champion in weightlifting for many consecutive years, also won three gold medals and one bronze medal in the 120kg category.
Sri Lankaβs national powerlifting champion Ransilu competed in the 120kg category and won the gold medal in the event.
As a new athlete, Minura, who competed in the junior category in the 95kg category, won a gold medal and a silver medal in his first ever international competition.
Finally Vikue, who competed in the 105kg category, admiringly won a silver medal in the competition he participated in.
