Quambatook celebrates.
The Sustainable Recreational Water for Quambatook project was officially opened on Friday and the LC of Kerang provided lunch.
Approximately 50 Quambatites, Shire Councillors and Staff and Local Member Peter Walsh attended the opening which followed the BBQ lunch. The attendees were treated to burgers and coleslaw and sausages with onions. Everyone looked suitably happy with their lunch.
The project is a credit to the Quambatook Community and the hard working volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring the project to fruition with the support of the Gannawarra Shire and State Government.
Thanks to Lions PDG Judy McKerrow, Sandi Morvell, Helen Pendlebury, John Poole, Graeme Hayes and Jeff Jackson for their work to provide lunch.

The MD201 Convention Dinner at the Adelaide Oval was well attended and was a huge success judging by the chatter and laughter throughout the Room. The theme was sport and/or your favourite team. Food was delicious, music was good and we even got a few dances in!

Notes on the MD201 Lions Convention are a bit late as it has been a big week! The highlight of Saturday was the Leo of the Year Final. All the finalists were excellent speakers and represented their states very well. Congrats to the NSW entrant who won both the Public Speaking and Overall Winner.
A number of awards were given out to very worthy Lions and congrats to all of them. Tartaglias and Gins decided to help out with the 201C1 project with stuffing and sewing of special heart shaped pillows and seat belt protectors for mastectomy/ breast cancer survivors. There certainly were plenty of Lions and Lions partners just stuffing around! Lol!
We went to the combined V5 and V6 dinner at the Duke of Brunswick hotel and had a great meal and very good time. Lovely to have a good chat with Peter and Lorraine from Corowa. The trams in Adelaide are very comfortable and efficient.

The MD201 Lions Convention started on Friday May 22 nd at Adelaide Showgrounds. Crowds were very good. Welcome to Country was done by Uncle Tamaru then the Official Opening was done by Her Excellency the Honorable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of SA.
Both Keynote Speakers, 3rd IVP Tony Benbow OAM who spoke on Lions in general and Lion Jarrod Kreft whose topic was AI Serving with Purpose gave very interesting speeches.
All 14 of the Notices of Motion were debated and voted on with a few being lost as they were contentious but the rest passed through successfully. All the various stalls were well attended and quite interesting.

The Lions Club of Kerang proudly hosted the Lions Vanners Club of Australia for morning tea today at our Lions Den. Judging by the chatter and laughter, everyone had a great time and they appreciated the homemade scones/cream/jam and slices and the hot cuppas!
Talking with a number of the vanners, they were very impressed with our Lions Den and the facilities that we have and also liked our Memorial Wall and Tree Garden. After being well fed, the Vanners headed off to their next stop at Wycheproof for the next few days. Lion Joe and LL Beryl Tartaglia together with LL Cheryl and Lion Greg Gin will join the convoy on Monday in Bordertown, Meningie and Hahndorf on our way to Adelaide for the Australian Multiple Districts Lions Convention at Adelaide Showgrounds from May 22nd to May 25th.
Special thanks to Lions Ladies Beryl Tartaglia, Cheryl Gin and Mary Niall and Lions Jenny Shields and Elaine Casey for their catering skills in looking after us all for morning tea.

A large crowd attended the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph in Atkinson Park. This was followed by the Lions Club of Kerang Gunfire Breakfast in the Memorial Hall. Although a smaller number than usual, those who attended enjoyed a hearty breakfast consisting of bacon, eggs and tomatoes on toast washed down with tea, coffee, milo and orange juice.
Lions then assembled at the Clock Tower for the march to the Cenotaph for the Wreath Laying Ceremony. Thanks to all the Lions and Lions Ladies who helped with the Gunfire Breakfast and/or participated in the march and wreath laying ceremony. Thanks also to the scouts who helped with the cleaning up after the breakfast. Your work was much appreciated by the RSL members and the wider public who supported the day.
Special thanks must go to Lion Jeff Jackson for all his organisation before, during and after the event. Well done Jeff!

The Royal Childrens Hospital Good Friday Appeal was again very successful. Thank you to all the door knockers who volunteered their time as nearly all of Kerang township was covered this year. Thank you to all the Lions and Lions Ladies who helped out with the counting of the money and thank you to all the people who bought raffle tickets.
Special thanks to Lion Jenny Shields again for all her organising not only on the day and setting up the raffle and selling days, but all through the year! Well done Jenny!
