Save the date: visitors are welcome to our little Keppel Sands village for our annual community garage sale on the first Saturday of the September school holidays. Residents will host garage sales at their homes and there’s something for everyone: plants, books, games, recreational and sporting gear, furniture, bric a brac, clothing, crafts and home baked goods. A full list of addresses can be collected on the day and the houses will be flagged so you know where to pop in. Cash only sales. Proudly organised by the Keppel Sands Community Advancement League Inc. Why not stay on with the family for a day on the beach, lunch at the local hotel, and an icecream at the shop and support our local businesses? There’s also a caravan park if you’d like to make a weekend of it!

The signs are finally back at Ron's Corner! Keppel Sands Community Advancement League has replaced the signs at the Groyne end and park end of Ron's Corner. Thanks to Dave Stretton for installing this signage. We encourage all locals to check them out when you're down that way. There are still the remnants of some of the mosaic work erected years ago within the area. Perhaps some of our locals and visiting artists would like to contribute some new pieces of art to brighten up the area? This little area was quite popular with locals and tourists due to the little 'hidden treasures' back when it was established.

Our advertising has started to promote the Keppel Sands Community Garage Sale in the wider community. For K Sands locals, it isn't too late to host a garage sale at your place. Rego forms available from the Larcombe Memorial Hall deck or you can message us & we will send one to you. Here's our ad that is now live on the Livingstone Shire Council website. This year's community garage sale is being organised by the Keppel Sands Community Advancement League Inc with all garage fee stall site funds going into the maintenance fund for the Larcombe Memorial Hall. You keep all the proceeds from your stall on the day. We will publish a complete list of addresses and garage sale items (based on what you put on your rego form) and make it available to visitors who attend the garage sale. A banner will also be erected soon at the turn off and all participating garage stalls will receive a flag and bunting to promote your site.

Our history article today is from 5 August 1952, p2 in The Morning Bulletin. There's quite a few Keppel Sands 'goings ons' in this article, with lots of mentions of locals and their pursuits. It seems that so much local people-centred news was published in these times. This article went across two columns so it was necessary to break it into two picture files. Retrieved from TROVE.

And here's another Keppel Sands history article from The Morning Bulletin, 30 August 1951, p2 , unfortunately the text is not very clear but if you click on the image to enlarge it you may be able to make it all out. This one refers to the busy August school holiday period and 33 cars down at Pumpkin Creek. It also refers to an absence of rain - much needed both then and now. Retrieved from TROVE.

Today's history article is from 22 August 1935, p59 of The Morning Bulletin and relates to the transfer of the hotel license from Tungamull to the Royal Hotel in Keppel Sands.
