For 50 years, Durri has proudly provided primary health care to the Kempsey community, and for 30 years we have continued supporting families and individuals across the Nambucca Valley.

Over the decades our services have continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our communities, with one clear focus β€” providing quality, culturally safe, and accessible care for everyone.

Today, we are proud to continue expanding our reach into Bowraville and Bellbrook, ensuring more community members can access the support and services they need, closer to home.

From health care and wellbeing support to community programs and outreach services, Durri remains committed to walking alongside our communities and delivering the best possible care for generations to come.

Thank you to our communities, staff, Elders, partners, and supporters who have been part of this incredible journey. Together we continue building stronger, healthier communities for all.

🌿🎨 Mobs Way to Wellness – Cancer Support Group 🎨🌿

Today, our Mobs Way to Wellness Cancer Support Group had a wonderful and meaningful day connecting with local services and community.

The group visited the Aboriginal Safe Haven Su***de Prevention Hub to learn more about the supports available within our community and explore ways to strengthen connections and referral pathways for our Durri ACMS patients. We also linked in with the wellbeing team at Wide Street in Kempsey to gain a better understanding of their services and how we can continue working together to support the health and wellbeing of our community members.

A special thank you to Aunty Leanne Scholes, and Aunty Jude Jarrett, who generously shared their time, knowledge, and creativity with our group. They guided participants through a relaxing and enjoyable art therapy session in the painting room, provided deadly resources, and supported meaningful yarning throughout the morning.

The group enjoyed a lovely morning tea together and shared a delicious spaghetti bolognese lunch. These gatherings provide an important opportunity for community members to connect, yarn, and build relationships with clinicians in a safe and supportive environment. They help strengthen trust, encourage conversations about health and wellbeing, and foster a sense of belonging and support.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making today such a positive and rewarding experience.

Community Announcement

Durri Named Preferred Provider for Staying In Country, Leaving Violence Program

Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service is proud to announce that we have been successfully identified as the preferred provider for the Staying In Country, Leaving Violence (SiCLV) Program across the Macleay and Nambucca Valleys.
This is a significant achievement for our organisation and, most importantly, for our communities. The program will provide culturally safe, community-led support for Aboriginal individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence, with a strong focus on healing, safety, cultural connection and self-determination.

As Aboriginal people, we know the importance of keeping our families, children and communities safe while ensuring supports are delivered in a way that is culturally responsive, trauma informed and grounded in connection to Country, culture and community. This program will strengthen local responses to family violence by ensuring our communities have access to supports that are designed by community, for community.

The Staying In Country, Leaving Violence Program will focus on:
Supporting victim-survivors of domestic and family violence;
Strengthening cultural healing and connection;
Providing wraparound and holistic supports;
Supporting families to remain connected to Country and community where safe to do so;
Working collaboratively with local services and stakeholders; and
Empowering Aboriginal families through culturally led approaches and community voice.

This announcement reflects the ongoing advocacy, leadership and dedication of our staff, community members and partners who continue to work tirelessly to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people across our region.

CEO Paul Morris said the program represents an important step forward in strengthening culturally safe supports for Aboriginal communities.

β€œFamily violence continues to have a devastating impact on our people and communities. Being able to deliver a program that is Aboriginal-led, culturally grounded and focused on healing is incredibly important. This program will allow us to support our community in a way that values culture, strengthens connection and empowers families to move forward safely and positively.”

Durri will now commence the implementation and planning phase of the program across the Macleay and Nambucca Valleys.

Recruitment for a number of positions associated with the program will commence as soon as possible, with opportunities to be advertised shortly. We encourage community members interested in contributing to this important work to keep an eye on upcoming announcements and position advertisements.

We look forward to working alongside community, Elders, stakeholders and partner organisations to ensure this program creates meaningful and lasting outcomes for our people.
Further information regarding the program and recruitment opportunities will be released soon.
