Community Announcement
Durri Named Preferred Provider for Staying In Country, Leaving Violence Program
Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service is proud to announce that we have been successfully identified as the preferred provider for the Staying In Country, Leaving Violence (SiCLV) Program across the Macleay and Nambucca Valleys.
This is a significant achievement for our organisation and, most importantly, for our communities. The program will provide culturally safe, community-led support for Aboriginal individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence, with a strong focus on healing, safety, cultural connection and self-determination.
As Aboriginal people, we know the importance of keeping our families, children and communities safe while ensuring supports are delivered in a way that is culturally responsive, trauma informed and grounded in connection to Country, culture and community. This program will strengthen local responses to family violence by ensuring our communities have access to supports that are designed by community, for community.
The Staying In Country, Leaving Violence Program will focus on:
Supporting victim-survivors of domestic and family violence;
Strengthening cultural healing and connection;
Providing wraparound and holistic supports;
Supporting families to remain connected to Country and community where safe to do so;
Working collaboratively with local services and stakeholders; and
Empowering Aboriginal families through culturally led approaches and community voice.
This announcement reflects the ongoing advocacy, leadership and dedication of our staff, community members and partners who continue to work tirelessly to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people across our region.
CEO Paul Morris said the program represents an important step forward in strengthening culturally safe supports for Aboriginal communities.
βFamily violence continues to have a devastating impact on our people and communities. Being able to deliver a program that is Aboriginal-led, culturally grounded and focused on healing is incredibly important. This program will allow us to support our community in a way that values culture, strengthens connection and empowers families to move forward safely and positively.β
Durri will now commence the implementation and planning phase of the program across the Macleay and Nambucca Valleys.
Recruitment for a number of positions associated with the program will commence as soon as possible, with opportunities to be advertised shortly. We encourage community members interested in contributing to this important work to keep an eye on upcoming announcements and position advertisements.
We look forward to working alongside community, Elders, stakeholders and partner organisations to ensure this program creates meaningful and lasting outcomes for our people.
Further information regarding the program and recruitment opportunities will be released soon.
