🚨🐕 WHEN THE SECURITY OPERATIONS GROUP COMES TO SCOUTS… YOU KNOW IT’S GOING TO BE A BIG NIGHT! 🐕🚨

Wednesday night at 1st Kempsey Scouts was definitely one to remember!

We were incredibly fortunate to welcome members of the Security Operations Group (SOG) from Corrective Services NSW to Scouts for a very special and informative evening.

The SOG team gave our Scouts an insight into the work they do and demonstrated the specialised equipment used during their day-to-day operations.

But the excitement didn’t stop there! 👀

To finish the night, the SOG team conducted a search operation using their highly trained detection dogs. Our Scouts got to see first-hand how these amazing dogs and their handlers work together as part of a professional search operation. 🐕‍🦺🔎

For an organisation that normally operates behind four walls, it was fantastic to bring some of that work into the community and give our Scouts an opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes.

The community engagement from the Corrective Services NSW team was exceptional, and we can’t thank them enough for taking the time to share their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with our Scouts. 👏

🌟 THIS IS WHAT SCOUTING IS ALL ABOUT!

Scouts isn’t just about camping and tying knots.

It’s about experiencing new things, meeting people from different walks of life, learning practical skills, discovering potential careers, building confidence and getting opportunities you may never otherwise experience.

And sometimes… you even get to meet a trained detection dog! 🐕😉

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Could your young person see themselves getting involved?

If your child enjoys adventure, learning new skills, meeting new people and trying things that are a little different, we’d love to introduce them to 1st Kempsey Scouts.

🚨 WE’RE ALSO LOOKING FOR ADULT LEADERS & VOLUNTEERS!

You don’t need to be a Scout expert. You don’t need to know how to tie every knot or pitch every tent.

What you do need is a willingness to get involved, learn alongside our youth and help create experiences like this one.

You’ll receive training and support—and you’ll become part of a team helping local young people develop skills, confidence and friendships that can last a lifetime.

Tuesday 28/7/26

Our cub has an old scout book that she was excited to share with the rest of us. So in the holidays I asked her mum if she would like to do an activity out of her book and show us all how to do it.

She did amazing bringing in all the supplies and plans to show us what to do.

She showed everyone how to make a moving shadow puppet there was so many ideas and great thoughts happing . She showed the cubs how to put the parts together and how to tell a story with them. It was a very fun night.

We ran out of time to do our shows so we will do some quick shows next week. So until then happy scouting.

🌟 What a Fantastic Term 2 at Scouts! 🌟
As we wrap up another amazing term, we're reflecting on all the adventures, challenges and achievements our Scouts have experienced together.
This term has been packed with memorable activities, including learning about fire safety and campfires, proudly participating in ANZAC Day commemorations, attending the exciting Region Rally, enjoying the fun of the Movie Spectacular, sharing laughs over Pizza Night, and celebrating the growth of our members through our Investiture Ceremony. It's been wonderful to see our young people developing confidence, resilience, leadership and teamwork every step of the way.
🏕️ Want your child to be part of the adventure? Scouts provides young people with opportunities to learn practical skills, make lifelong friends, enjoy outdoor experiences and challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ We're also looking for adult volunteers! If you've ever thought about giving back to your community, now is the perfect time. No Scouting experience is necessary—just enthusiasm and a willingness to support young people. Training and support are provided, and there are a variety of ways to get involved.

This week 1st Kempsey Scouts joined with Camden Haven, Port Macquarie, Wauchope and others from our district to go indoor rock climbing and laser tag.

All had a good night exploring new skills with some even completing the leap of faith.

It's always a good night to join other cubs and scouts, reuniting with old friends and making new ones.

Thanks for inviting us.
