Well hello, back in front of the wood fire again, thinking about tomorrow.
The Men's shed, McBain Street will be open (as every Wednesday) about 9am to all or any Men to join for a cuppa and biscuits around 9.30.
No doubt discussion will be about the weather and any happenings about town. After which members will disperse to do whatever they do.
One of the recent one-off projects was the Garden seat as pictured on the recently laid concrete, which was intended to be completed by Mother's Day, but alas, didn't quite get finished in time.
On the Wellness line, recently the SHED offered surplus power tools for sale, and a Migrant worker from Bordertown purchased 4 or 5 which he intends to forward to his Father in the Solamon Islands. Maybe another Men's shed?

[The other morning I tried to catch some fog....I mist.

Well, Facebook tells me I have not posted in 40 days, so, that is because so much is happening that I can't keep up. Among the Men's Shed activities was a couple of days cutting and splitting firewood. Which is why I am now trying to catch up, sitting in front of my fire on this the start of winter.
The steady stream of orders for Garden beds and Mud kitchens and Spoggie traps interspersed with one off jobs and the usual fix it jobs (usually wobbly chairs) means the SHED has the funds to provide improvements like, a concrete apron outside of 3 roller doors.
Mid May, the cheifs in the Men's shed organisation suggested SHEDs should include with the traditional wood and metal some "wellness" for wellness week.
Well the week coincided with the laying of the concrete by Andrew Willis and team, well done. Members kept Well away and it was Well appreciated as an improved work surface instead of the former loose gravell.

? Why is there a D in fridge, but not in refrigerator?

Well hello I'm back, having spent some months looking for the stash of "saved daylight". All the while the members have been busy, churning out trailer loads of "raised garden beds", plus a steady stream of "Mud kitchens " for the kiddies, or parents sanity.
Then, most members had some involvement in the "Reved up Show ". Seemingly the noise did not deter the Easter bunny and whilst the children were seeking out Easter eggs, the Shed's men were seeking more old 2nd hand sinks to maintain production.
Recently the Shed received a large trailer load of donated, quality builders timber, and continue to receive donations of power tools which are being tested and tagged before we offer them for sale.
Till next time.

Well hello, way back in September I said Spring had sprung- it was a bit here and there.
Then 1st December--Well nothing like a summers day, and it's been busy at the Shed all month.
So busy I am being "ticked off" by Facebook ( perhaps AI is counting the days) for not posting for so many days.
Over the weekend we, the shed, had an anniversary, nine years since opening, as pictured in the following photos---- if the tech works. Did I mention we had a digital workshop, one day, here goes.

Wow how time flies, people already planning Christmas parties.
As mentioned on the ABC Men's shed report a week or two ago, members are keeping busy with the usual projects plus, a work party spent some time modifying rubbish bins (shuttles) over at the Show grounds.
At the Shed space has become congested as members work on the construction of three Large display "boxes" for the upcoming Keith Art Groups, Art show in mid November.
Members were concerned that the Radio report inferred (journalistic licence) that Keith Men's shed were seeking a grant to upgrade our Thicknesser machine...this is not correct, Keith Men's shed has been self funding (thanks to the generous support of our locals) ,after the original set-up grants, some 7/8 years ago. The bare shed is owned by the Keith War Memorial Community Centre which we rent at a peppercorn rate, and have developed as our own over the years.
The modifying of the Thicknesser at a cost of a bit over $2000, will produce a better finish, especially on hardwood and reduce the noise by about half, hopefully making for better working conditions for all members.
Finally, members received favourable comments from those who observed Keith Men's shed made items at the recent local garden day.

Hello, so much of Keith Men's shed activity is based on recycling, and using 2nd hand materials. One of our popular projects is "Mud kitchens" for youngsters.
So popular, that no sooner than one is completed, the specialist crew, sigh, "not another one" with the next order. They having completed north of 30 todate.
The Mud kitchen story...a young mother or a grand parent decides a Mud kitchen is just the thing to get the child out side, into the fresh air, stimulate their imagination and build their immunity with a little dirt on their hands.
That is the start of the story...in most cases they provide an old sink, the basic item around which it is all built...usually found down behind the shed, where the kids are not allowed to play for fear of Red Backs and snakes. So that's one positive.
They then deliver to the shed where the crew, because seemingly no two sinks are the same, are mentally stimulated...maybe a positive...in sifting thru several piles of "maybe useful one day" timber looking for the RIGHT pieces. Failing which they have to manufacture the RIGHT pieces to be assembled.
That done, the family is advised to pick up their Mud kitchen.
Which is usually accompanied by expressions of "wonderful, amazing, just the shot...which is repeated, embarrassing, to the crew at the next morning coffee session.
So, win win win, family kids and members of the Keith Men's shed.

Hello, well, so much to catch up on. While the big projects tend to get all the limelight, it is some of the small projects that are the most satisfying.
One such was the building of a nest box for the Fowls at Stirling Lodge, recently.
Unfortunately I don't have a photo at this point. Oh well, till next time.

Hello, well Spring has sprung. Two thirds of the year has gone.
Whilst this page has been in hibernation, activities in the Shed have continued apace.
Work orders with a completion date "by Christmas would be good " are met by hesitation as we give the standard "we will see what we can do ".
The last Facebook post was about the delivery of seats to Carinya. At the August monthly meeting a thankyou was received from Carinya, and now joins others on our notice board.

Hello, about a month ago, I commented on some of the fellows making 4 bench seats for Carinya. Then last week they decided to deliver them. Would they fit on the ute, yes, just, second try. A full load headed out the gate and were positioned here and there at Carinya.
Till next time. "Splinter".
