After many months of dedicated rehearsals, 42nd Street - the school's Senior Musical Production, is ready for you to enjoy.

A high-energy tap-dancing spectacular, 42nd Street celebrates the glitz and glamour of classic musicals. Starring students from Year 8 - 12, and featuring well-known, sing-along hits such as We're in the Money, You're Getting to be a Habit with Me, and Lullaby of Broadway, this show is sure to entertain.

Fred and his father, George, were well known in the Essendon area - running Chemist shops on the corner of Fletcher St and Mt Alexander Rd, and Rose St for decades.

1985 - Middle School Disco - Year 9 [Class of 1988] & Year 10 [Class of 1987]

The Disco in Term Two (1985 Yearbook, p.127)
After many hours of preparing the McNab Coffee Shop and Gym (Under the very kind direction of Miss Buchan and Mr. Treu) the disco crew members were now ready for the arrival of the Year 9s and 10s for their 1950s disco.
As people walked in the door you could almost feel that you were part of a scene from "Happy Days" or "Grease", full skirts, leather and denim jackets, pointed shoes and sneakers really set a great atmosphere. Of course there were a few exceptions: Donna Isherwood and Lena Arvidson dressed as cuddly puppy dogs.
"Rockin' Robin" played great music all through the night and catered for everybody's taste — including heavy metal freaks.
Jason Hay and Chris Farquhar won the best Blues Brothers dancing (by the way they were dressed as Blues Brothers too). Sara Perry, John Stathis, Suzanne Ellis and a few other talented dancers won prizes too.
Mandy Robinson won the best 50's style dress.
We think everyone in attendance would agree that it was a fabulous night with all people joining in dancing, singing and generally enjoying themselves. Thanks are due to the Penleigh disco committee and the Essendon Grammar boys who helped in the preparation.

The run of sporting excitement continues tonight at 10.00pm AEST with Liz Watson (Class of 2012) captaining the Australian Diamonds netball team in the Commonwealth Games semi-final against Jamaica.
The team won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, defeating Jamaica by a narrow margin in that match. We’ve got our fingers crossed they can do it again!

Celebrating Alumni Musical Excellence - Garrie and Steve Davislim

Did you know that Garrie Davislim [PEGS Class of 1988] performed tenor roles in multiple operas in Germany in 2025, including as Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème, Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, and Pinkerton in Puccini's Madame Butterfly, as well as a Tour to Taiwan performing at National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying).
