We had an absolute thrill last week to be special guests of Corporal Johnson, who generously hosted us for a guided tour of the School of Infantry - Australian Army, including the Arthur Francis Centre.

The Centre honours the remarkable life of service of Kearsley’s own Warrant Officer Arthur Francis, who rose to become the highest‑ranking enlisted officer in the Australian Army. Visiting the Centre, particularly as we approach the 10th anniversary of his passing, reminded us of what a special man he was.

During our visit, we toured the Centre, explored the museum and had the privilege of presenting a History of the Rising Sun Hat Badge Collection to the Regimental Sergeant Major, as a small token of our appreciation for the School of Infantry’s ongoing support of our commemorative activities.

Corporal Johnson was also the commander of the catafalque party at our 2026 Dawn Service, and we are incredibly grateful not only for her leadership on the day, but for the opportunity to give us this tour.

We’re grateful to have been invited to attend Kearsley Public School’s Anzac Day commemoration this morning.

It was a solemn ceremony which reminded all of us in attendance - both young and old - of the importance of never forgetting the stories of those brave and selfless men and women who have answered the call to duty. Choosing to put others ahead of themselves. To serve us.

To show our appreciation to the students for their leadership and ensuring the next generation doesn’t forget the sacrifices of our service personnel, we gifted them with a complete Sands of Gallipoli commemorative collection.

The Great Anzac Slice Showdown was a unique and fun way for all those local bakers to show off their skills in the kitchen.

The Anzac Slice Connoisseur (ASC) spent a considerable amount of time following the Dawn Service to taste and re-taste all of the entries.

Following much deliberation, the ASC determined the top three in show to be:

🥇 Michelle Goldie
🥈 Lyn Fallon
🥉 Peta Barber

Congratulations to all three - we hope you enjoy your prizes and the bragging rights you have for the next 12 months.
