In case you missed it, NG Central was selected as one of three charities in the March 'Local Matters' campaign at Grill'd West Gosford.

If you visit before the end of the month, you'll receive a token and have the chance to vote for our school to take out first prize (a $300 donation!). We would absolutely love to invest this into our wellbeing programs and your support can help make that happen!

If you can, head into 'd West Gosford between now and next Tuesday to enjoy a feed and cast your vote. Oh, and be sure to send us some selfies while you're there!

CHOW DOWN FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

That's right folks, we're back in the spotlight over at Grill'd West Gosford as part of their monthly Local Matters campaign.

In case you haven't taken part before, the premise is super simple and super delicious.

Each month, Grill'd chooses three local charities to promote. Every time you dine there, you'll be given a token which you can 'donate' to the charity of your choosing. The organisation who wins takes out $300 to put towards their wonderful work.

We would LOVE your support to get us over the edge this March! If you're around Gosford over the next week, stop by and treat yourself to a burger AND help us raise some much needed funds for our young people and the NGC wellbeing programs that support them!

GRAB A FEED AT Grill'd West Gosford this March! NGC is thrilled to be one of Grill'd 'Local Matters' charities this month.

For those who don't know, Grill'd West Gosford provides you with a token every time you eat there, which you use to 'vote' for one of three selected local charities. At the end of the month, they tally up the votes, with the winning charity receiving $300 and the other two receiving $100 each.

We would love to be able to direct these funds into our NGC wellbeing programs, so we are crossing our fingers that our community can spread the word and cast their votes!

So grab your mates, enjoy a delicious burger and head to Grill'd West Gosford any time during March.

MEET CHARLIE:

At NGC, we want to be a safe space for young people to unmask and be authentically themselves. 15-year old Charlie is a perfect example of this in action. Since he came to us, we have watched his confidence, engagement and self-advocacy grow exponentially.

With the right support, Charlie has been able to fully embrace his second chance at school. As an Autistic young man, NGC has been able to provide lots of accommodations to help him thrive in and out of the classroom.

Led by our Inclusive Education teacher, Jade, these supports have ranged from dictating assignments to a teachers' aide to offering a special 'wobble stool' which caters to Charlie's sensory processing needs.

It's been amazing to see Charlie embrace all aspects of school life. As a keen lover of cars, he has taken to our Automotive shed like a duck to water and is always up for outdoor excursions to Somersby Falls.

Charlie speaks candidly about how he has been able to forge relationships with students and staff in a totally new way to his previous schools. He puts that down to everyone's genuine care and authenticity - qualities that he himself also has in spades!

MEET BIANCA:

There’s something extra special about the bonds we form with those students who are at NGC for the long haul.

Bianca has been with us since her first few weeks of Year 9…and in a few short months, she is set to graduate! We couldn't be prouder of the strides she has made with her learning, especially her progress in subjects she didn't enjoy pre-NGC like Maths and Science.

She's also made the most of all the extracurricular and vocational training initiatives on offer; trying equine therapy, learning the art of podcasting and cultural storytelling via the Mod Pod Program, and working towards her Certificate III in Retail.

Bianca speaks so genuinely about the compassion she has received from students and staff at NGC and can't wait to progress into a caring profession of her own post-school. Motivated by her own personal family experiences, she is planning to pursue a career in Aged Care and we know she will be fabulous at it!

A highlight of Term 2 was our participation in the Youth Scoot (E-Cruiser) Program, facilitated by our friends at The Skill Engineer .

Bringing together NGC, Brisbane Waters Secondary College and Erina High School students, this fully-funded STEM initiative saw our young people work in teams to build their own electric scooters from the ground up!

Over the term, they gained valuable, hands-on skills in welding, electronics, mechanical assembly and workplace safety. The process included plenty of guidance from The Skill Engineer’s apprentice mentors and an information session with Central Coast Group Training.

We were so impressed with how our students persevered throughout the program and it was fantastic to watch them graduate and present their work at the recent community showcase. Big thanks to The Skill Engineer for this amazing opportunity!
