🎉 Supporting Community, Celebrating 80 Years 🎉

Our crews are proud to be supporting our founders and long-time friends at the Kariong Progress Association as they celebrate an incredible 80 years of community spirit.

This special milestone brings together residents past and present to reflect on the stories, people, and moments that have shaped Kariong into the community we know today ❤️

Hosted at the Kariong Community Hall, the celebration will feature the launch of the 80-Year Commemorative Booklet, student presentations on “Kariong Then & Now”, and the sharing of historical photos, local stories, and memories from long-time residents.

🚒 Come and say hello! Our station will be open on the day, with our trucks on display, alongside our good friends from NSW Fire & Rescue Kariong 341. It’s a great chance to meet the crews and get up close with the appliances.

It’s more than just a celebration, it’s about honouring the past, connecting in the present, and looking to the future together.

A big thank you to the Kariong Progress Association for continuing to bring the community together and keeping these important stories alive 👏

🔥 Hazard Reduction at Awaba – Community Protection in Action 🔥

Last Sunday, a dedicated crew of six members attended the Awaba Tip Hazard Reduction. The crew worked throughout the day to successfully complete the burn in accordance with the approved Hazard Reduction burn plan, ensuring it was carried out safely, effectively, and with minimal impact to the surrounding area.

Hazard Reduction burns are a critical part of preparing our communities for bushfire season. By reducing the amount of available fuel such as leaf litter, grasses, and fallen branches, these operations help to:

•Lower bushfire intensity and spread
•Improve firefighter safety during a fire event
•Protect lives, homes, and critical infrastructure
•Strengthen community resilience ahead of severe fire conditions

A big thank you to all crew members involved for volunteering their time and effort to help keep our communities safe. Your hard work makes a real difference. 👏🚒

🔥 Congratulations to our two newest Breathing Apparatus Wearers! 🔥

A huge well done to Laura and Slater, who have successfully completed their Breathing Apparatus course. Over two evenings and a full day today, they worked through the theory and put their skills to the test in practical scenarios.
Your commitment, effort, and determination are a credit to you both and to our brigade. We’re proud to have you onboard, stay safe and well done! 👏🚒

🚒 CAR FIRE – M1 MOTORWAY

Just after 10:00pm last night, our crews were responded to a car fire on the M1. On arrival, the fire had already spread into the scrub on the side of the motorway.

Working alongside Fire & Rescue NSW Station 341 Kariong, crews quickly brought the car and surrounding bush under control and extinguished the fire.

Our team remained on scene to ensure no remaining hotspots in the vehicle before it was safely towed from the area.

A great joint effort by all involved to keep our community and roadways safe.

Stay safe on the roads. 🚒🌲
