ANIC Executive Committee & Australian Fatwa Council Meeting – Sydney

Alhamdulillah, honoured to be attending the ANIC Executive Committee and Australian Fatwa Council Meeting in Sydney today. This is a valuable opportunity for Australia’s Muslim leadership to come together to discuss key community matters, address contemporary challenges, and work collectively for the benefit of the Ummah.

We ask Allah ﷻ to grant wisdom, sincerity, unity, and barakah in all our deliberations, and to make our efforts a means of goodness for Muslims across Australia.

The Council of Imams Queensland (CIQ) held its Imams Reunion this evening with the participation of esteemed Imams from across the state. The meeting emphasised unity, consultation, and collective responsibility in serving the Muslim community. Key discussions centred on strengthening coordination between Imams and planning for future initiatives that support the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the community.

Please find attached the Statement from ANIC strongly condemning the disturbing incident at Masjid Taqwa, Bald Hills on 11 May 2026, where worshippers were allegedly threatened by a man claiming to have a firearm in his vehicle.

In the statement, ANIC expresses deep concern over the rise in Islamophobic incidents and reaffirms that all places of worship must remain safe sanctuaries free from intimidation, fear, and hatred.

We stand in solidarity with the affected community and call for continued vigilance, protection, and accountability.

We are honoured to have these respected Imams and community members join the CIQ Executive Committee, contributing towards the continued growth, unity, and service of the Muslim community across Queensland.
