We had to replace the cover after the storm. Working hard on the first section of floor and reinforcing the strength overall. Next step is building the first bench along the side with the bricks.

We had a big gig on Tuesday 26th of May. The Ukupundas were out in full force. Everyone turned up, and there was excitement in the air. I only got the chance to take a few pictures before we started, Peter not being there. The following is what our leader Dick French had to say. All in all everyone were amazing, showing a high level of skill in programming and ex*****on.

"The gig we did on Tuesday was in the Gawler Rec Centre basketball venue which was HUGE, and the layout made it quite difficult. Graham said the members enjoyed our performance, especially when we had individuals on the microphone. From our end it was not easy, so we had to be attentive to keep in time etc. I was very proud of your efforts, your organisation in individual bits and you presented a very good Ukupundas. WELL DONE, everyone. The big plus for me was we had a varied programme with more individual contributions which will hold us in good stead in the future. "

We had a very enjoyable visit from Derek Bowman and Kevin from South Coast U3A who travelled all the way from GOOLWA. A shared lunch was held under the Gazebo of the U3A KAPUNDA and Districts community garden project, followed by a garden tour. Our committee members and garden members were involved in animated discussion. Our guests then accompanied us to the Light Regional Council chambres for a committee meeting in which Derek addressed the meeting in his capacity as state president.

We put the "skin" on our propagation tunnel this afternoon and finished reinforcement. Bricked the edges to protect from wind. The tunnel is part of a plan to include those who can only work for short periods in meaningful and enjoyable work. Thanks Albert Di Palma and Rob Reichstein .

A few photos from the U3A KAPUNDA Community garden project, Wednesday 28th April 2026. Our "propagation tunnel " project is taking shape. The metal framework has been reinforced, the floor levelled and floor paving begun. We are using upcycled and donated materials, setting it up to work automatically using alternate energy and using rainwater from the tank. The aim is to give meaningful work for short periods as we grow older and have to cope with low energy levels, injury and disability. This should give us the ability to include more of our U3A KAPUNDA AND DISTRICTS members. The shed will be electrified giving us the ability to hold workshops, fitted out with strip lighting electric kettle, fridge and charging station for tools. The garden has never been attached to mains. Thanks to the Light Regional Council for 1000 dollar grant. Actually cost of project 20,000 plus, donations and labour.

Please come in and have a look around. Every Wednesday just after noon. Text David Mackinnon 0466689128.

On Thursday 5th march 2026 the Ukupundas performed at Walara in Hamley Bridge. It was universally acclaimed as our best performance ever
Everyone was "on the ball" and fully absorbed in the performance. The Audience were great, singing and clapping along. I'll post each video separately because they are often ignored when posted in the comments. Thanks Peter for taking the videos. UKUPUNDAS BAND
