Kangaroo Valley Children's Medical Research Institute Committee The Kangaroo Valley Children's Medical Research Institute Committee was established in 1958. We rais

This was how the Kangaroo Valley CMRI Committee started:

In 1958 Professor Sir Lorimer Dods formed the Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) in Sydney and devoted his career to research work for the cure of childhood illnesses. Dorothy Brown from Kangaroo Valley had a critically ill son and consulted the professor. They became friends and she decided to aid his work and form a branch of th

e CMRI in the Valley. Early fundraising was modest but as the years went by the fledgling branch gained support in the village and still retains the proud title of the first branch outside of Sydney. In 2018, we celebrated 60 years of dedicated fundraising and thanks to generous support from Valleyites, $400,000 had been contributed to the CMRI and research work over that period!
