Wear It Purple Day 2026 – Colours Of Courage

Today we celebrate Wear It Purple Day and this year’s theme, Colours of Courage.

Courage doesn’t always have to be loud or happen in big moments. Sometimes courage is simply being yourself, asking for support, standing beside someone, speaking up, showing pride or choosing to create a space where others feel safe to belong.

And what better day to connect than today!

Our LGBTQIA+ Drop-In is on this afternoon at headspace Kalgoorlie!

📍 headspace Kalgoorlie
🕒 Today| 3PM – 5PM
🏳️‍🌈 A welcoming, inclusive and judgement-free space to hang out, connect and simply be yourself.

Colours of Courage celebrates LGBTQIA+ young people, allies and communities, and reminds us that every act of acceptance, understanding and support helps create a safer and more inclusive community.

So today, wear it purple, wear it with purpose, and show your colours of courage. 💜

🌟 Bullying No Way Week has arrived! 🌟

This week reminds us that small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact. Small, everyday moments - like listening, showing care, and checking in- contribute to fostering empathy and connection.

You might chat with the children and young people in your life about the impact of simple acts: a kind smile, a thoughtful word, or showing someone they're not alone can make a real difference. These small yet significant moments have the power to shift mindsets and nurture inclusive spaces.

Check out the resources and activities on our site designed to help your children and young people build stronger, safer, and more inclusive communities. Together, we can put an end to bullying.

headspace Kalgoorlie clinician recognised at national multicultural awards!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Debasmita Roy, Mental Health Clinician at headspace Kalgoorlie, who has received the Australian Indian Multicultural Award (AIMA) 2026 in the Unsung Hero – Family Violence Counselling & Advocacy category.

Held in Melbourne as part of celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August, the awards recognised the achievements and contributions of the Australian-Indian community. With more than 350 nominations received from across Australia across just 20 award categories, this recognition is an outstanding achievement.

Due to the considerable travel distance and complex arrangements required to travel from Kalgoorlie to Melbourne, Debasmita was unable to attend the ceremony in person. Her representative, Dr Daman Shrivastav, proudly accepted the award on her behalf.

Debasmita said she felt incredibly thrilled and honoured to receive the recognition:

“This award is not the finish line—it inspires me to continue growing, shining and making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals, families and the wider community. I am excited to continue this journey and contribute even more in the future.”

We are incredibly proud to have Debasmita as part of the headspace Kalgoorlie team and to see her dedication, compassion and advocacy recognised on a national stage.

We invite our Goldfields community to join us in congratulating Debasmita on this well-deserved achievement!

Congratulations, Debasmita — an incredible recognition of the difference you continue to make in the community.
