Like it or not, winter is well and truly here in WA! While our winters are relatively mild, darker days and wet weather mean it’s a good idea to make sure your car is safe is this season.

This winter make sure you check your:
• Tyres – Monitor your tyre tread and replace tyres before the tread gets down to 1.5mm.
• Lights – Check your headlights, tail lights and brake lights.
• Windscreen wipers – Are these still working well after a summer hiatus?

In addition to checking your car, remember to increase your following distance in poor conditions such as rain or low visibility.

Don't drift off when driving long distances by getting at least 7.5 hours sleep the night before, taking a break every two hours and swapping drivers regularly if possible.

Know the yawning signs of fatigue to help make every journey safe.

Today Narembeen Community Resource Centre is hosting Fluro Friday as part of Sock (Save our Country Kids) Week.

Be seen and be safe with bright clothes, lights and reflectors when eRiding or cycling at night.

Add extra visibility with reflective stickers on your clothes, helmet or bag, and reflective arm bands and ankle straps to make you more easily recognisable when riding in the dark.
