ADMIN NOTE: We are seeing a spike in “Found Dog” posts in the group. We understood why a few days ago with the major thunderstorms, but even without the storm there are many more than normal.

We have also had to remove a couple of comments where owners have berated the “finders” for not keeping the dog until the owner could collect the dog.

It is NOT the “finders” responsibility to “look after the dog until the owner is found or available”. It is the owners responsibility to ensure thier dog is secured at all times.

If you find a lost dog, call the Junee Ranger on 0427 694 272. This is listed under the Emergency Contacts on Councils website.

The Bush Fire Danger Period commences November 1st for Junee (and for our neighbours Coolamon and Wagga Wagga)

The Bush Fire Danger Period commences November 1st for Junee (and for our neighbours Coolamon and Wagga Wagga)

Today marks the official start of the bush fire season, with the Bush Fire Danger Period beginning in most NSW Local Government Areas.

If you’re planning on conducting a burn, you’ll require a fire permit from your local Fire Control Centre or brigade. Fire permits help ensure fire is used safely and reduces the danger to you, your property and the community.

Residents and land holders must know the rules when it comes to the use of fire. Along with having the required fire permits, you need to notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn at least 24 hours in advance.

For more information on the Bush Fire Danger Period and requirements around safe burning, visit our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP
