Very proud of Zed presenting on this panel yesterday.
What he did was incredible, reporesenting a section of the community we rarely get to hear from. Thanks Zed, real leadership potential in the making.

One of the great things about living in the Latrobe Valley is the proximity to some of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Some special holidays moments with some great young people in such a beautiful place.

Since returning this week we have, once again, been nothing short of impressed with the level of engagement in activities. It's always pleasing to watch young people realise their talents when they push themselves to try new challenges.
Watching their confidence grow and the self belief that comes with, that is special .

Also, thanks to our regular older ones for continuing to show great mentoring skills and working to constantly improve the facilities.

Finally, a big thank you Pete and Lou and all our wider Jumbuk community who are always so supportive of our young ones and support us in so many ways.

What a great week before we take a little break over school holidays. So good to see their adventurous spirit and their love of being in the bush. Its always a privilege to share moments with these talented (and funny) young ones.

Well Gordon Lambsey is making his mark, and our young people are showing him so much warmth and care. It’s been heartening to witness the way he has been so warmly embraced. Young people truly are special.

Some great mentoring again this week from our older ones and a special moment when Kyran received his brown shirt. All our older ones provide ripper mentoring and we are lucky to have Kyran on board now too, providing his endless talents and wisdom on the mentoring front.

Great to see some incredible talent on the creative front too with t-shirt making and wooden boards being created as well as the new workspace door being built and installed.

Thanks again every one of you for a fantastic week, full of so many great moments including another special birthday for one of our youngest.

Happy 13th bud and thanks for such a fun filled night this week

Just a quick note to acknowledge the touching donation we were so chuffed to receive this week from the Uniting Church Op Shop in Newborough.

We recognise the hard work, generosity and dedication that goes into such a significant donation, and we really, really appreciate it. This donation will go a long way to help out some of the most disadvantaged and disengaged young people in the Latrobe Valley and help us to assist where we can.

Thank you Uniting Church Op Shop Newborough! We consider ourselves so lucky to be part of such a generous and supportive community.

That's August done and what a busy one it was. Some of the highlights included:

A long day in the classroom for our First Aid Qualification Course. We were all so impressed at the level of commitment and enthusiasm shown by all. Congratulations on a fantastic effort in obtaining your First Aid qualifications and for being such champions all day!

Some precious moments where we officially welcomed two more young people into the flock as well as celebrating some special birthdays.

A big thank you to Ash and Stan for volunteering their time and expertise. An engaging and very informative discussion on vapes and the ingredients being inhaled as well as some fantastic mentoring provided in the workshop.

More workshop improvements are underway and nearly finished. We now have a dedicated space for auto elec and airbrushing. Thank you to all involved in the construction of the wall and one ripper strong bench for the space.

And finally, we welcomed in our newest young one, Barry the lamb (or dog, as he seems to think of himself). Seeing how caring our young people are and already observing the attention Barry is getting, reminds us of how supportive and special our young people are. Barry is going to be one very spoilt lamb, sorry, dog

A great start to August with lots of new faces both young and older.

A big thank you to all our regulars for making the new Mountain Trackers feel so welcome and supported. It was amazing to see our newest one so keen to help when a visitor to Mountain Track punctured a tyre. Without hesitation the offer came in "can I help fix it?”

Also a special visit from one of our original four. Whilst he is back visiting his family in town, he is also making time to visit his Mountain Track family up the hill. We love the way you look out for the younger ones Jayden, you are truly an inspiration for us all. Keep up the great work mate!

And finally a big welcome to Tiana and Bianca, a couple of fantastic Federation University students doing their placement up here with us for the next few months. We are all enjoying the energy, knowledge and compassion they bring to Mountain Track.

That's July done and dusted up here in sunny winter Jumbuk 😉. It’s been such a special month yet again.

Seeing young people, who have faced more than their fair share of adversity and seeing how this can appear to wire their brains differently, often presents early challenges.

They may lack confidence in themselves and doubt what they are truly capable of, to change this is a process.

Every day we see young people who may not be great classroom performers; but give them real world problems to solve and watch them excel.

We know how talented all our young people are and this month has shown us yet again how the education system isn’t always best placed to reveal their amazing potential.

Speaking of realised potential, a huge congratulations to Alex and Fred on their RIMP0320F Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations qualification.

Hearing the way the accredited trainer describe your abilities and the manner in which you conducted yourself made us all so proud.

Community support means the world to us here at Mountain Track and that’s why we are so touched by the incredible support shown to us by Moartz Inc. and the CWA Morwell Evening Branch over the past couple weeks. Between them they have raised over $1000 for Mountain Track Youth.

Being recognised by our fellow community organisations is both encouraging and heartwarming and we couldn’t be more grateful. We love being part of the Latrobe Valley community. And hope to continue to play our part for years to come.
