A great start to August with lots of new faces both young and older.

A big thank you to all our regulars for making the new Mountain Trackers feel so welcome and supported. It was amazing to see our newest one so keen to help when a visitor to Mountain Track punctured a tyre. Without hesitation the offer came in "can I help fix it?”

Also a special visit from one of our original four. Whilst he is back visiting his family in town, he is also making time to visit his Mountain Track family up the hill. We love the way you look out for the younger ones Jayden, you are truly an inspiration for us all. Keep up the great work mate!

And finally a big welcome to Tiana and Bianca, a couple of fantastic Federation University students doing their placement up here with us for the next few months. We are all enjoying the energy, knowledge and compassion they bring to Mountain Track.

That's July done and dusted up here in sunny winter Jumbuk 😉. It’s been such a special month yet again.

Seeing young people, who have faced more than their fair share of adversity and seeing how this can appear to wire their brains differently, often presents early challenges.

They may lack confidence in themselves and doubt what they are truly capable of, to change this is a process.

Every day we see young people who may not be great classroom performers; but give them real world problems to solve and watch them excel.

We know how talented all our young people are and this month has shown us yet again how the education system isn’t always best placed to reveal their amazing potential.

Speaking of realised potential, a huge congratulations to Alex and Fred on their RIMP0320F Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations qualification.

Hearing the way the accredited trainer describe your abilities and the manner in which you conducted yourself made us all so proud.

Community support means the world to us here at Mountain Track and that’s why we are so touched by the incredible support shown to us by Moartz Inc. and the CWA Morwell Evening Branch over the past couple weeks. Between them they have raised over $1000 for Mountain Track Youth.

Being recognised by our fellow community organisations is both encouraging and heartwarming and we couldn’t be more grateful. We love being part of the Latrobe Valley community. And hope to continue to play our part for years to come.

Well it's been another fantastic month with the best bunch of young people.

We are now taking two weeks off to get ready for an even bigger second half of the year.

Lots of new faces to come and we will be moving back to a three day a week schedule to fit in some new more ripper young ones plus those keen to return.

We have been lucky to have a couple of new volunteers this month and we very much appreciate all your efforts Ash and Ivan.

Thanks to all our young people and staff that have made the first half of the year so memorable.

This Thursday night (June 25), Moartz Inc. are putting on Chaulkface at Monash Hall, Yallourn North.

$5 from every ticket of this performance will go towards supporting Mountain Track and the work we do with the young people of the Latrobe Valley.

As of now there are still tickets available, so for a great night out, supporting local theatre AND Mountain Track Youth please grab a ticket or two and come along. 😃

Back from a four day trip to the NSW/Vic border area to assist in rebuilding fences from the devastating summer bushfires.

The three young men we took were absolute legends and represented all the young people of the Latrobe Valley with such distinction.

A pleasure to work alongside these young men and the way in which they endeared themselves to the Blaze Aid crew and locals made for a truly memorable trip.

It was so pleasing to see the humour and team work, both on the fence line and back at camp.

A huge well done men and we all very proud of you :)

Oops, well there went May and now we’re cracking into June. Sorry, it’s been a while between posts and we’ve been busy, with so many highlights recently. From new faces, to some great learning and creative pursuits.

We’ve seen one of our younger ones make the transition to green. His leadership potential is on display every time he attends, and he has become such a reliable helper.

We were also lucky to visit the Plastics Fabrications factory and have a fantastic tour from Peter and Mark. To have such great local businesses that get the importance of a job for the often overlooked, now that’s significant. And how that show of trust, in these same workers, can transform lives. That’s what it’s about.
