❗️ UPDATE: all roads are now open. ❗️

Jamestown 34P, URP and the Bundaleer Logistics vehicle are currently in attendance with SAPOL at a vehicle accident located at the railway crossing on R M Williams Way and George Street. The road is currently closed while our crews clear up debris and move a caravan off of the road. Road closures are currently in place and an update will be provided when the road reopens. More details on the incident to come.

It was so wonderful seeing so many community members come to visit, as well as groups from St James School, Jamestown Community Children’s Centre and Jamestown Community School. Are you eligible to apply?

In line with the intent of the program, applications will be accepted from:

🔥 individual farmers
🔥 farming businesses or rural landholders
🔥 applicants must have current FFU registration and provide evidence as part of their application.

‼️Important note‼️

Applicants must not have received RCCF funding in the previous two rounds and must submit proof of current FFU registration with their application.

Eligible items applied for in the application must be intended purchases and not items already purchased. Applicants may apply under one funding stream only.

Round 5 of the Regional Capability Community Fund is now open 🛻

Funding is available to support eligible South Australian farmers, farming businesses and rural landholders to improve fire preparedness and response capability.

Applicants can apply for reimbursement funding for eligible equipment, including Farm Fire Units, safety equipment and other approved FFU equipment.

Applications close 5.00 pm ACST, Friday 18 September 2026.

50 years of the South Australian Country Fire Service 🧑‍🚒🔥🧡

In December 2026, the CFS marks 50 years since the Country Fires Act 1976 established the CFS as a single statewide service.

Today, August 12, marks the date the original Country Fires Bill was first put forward in the House of Assembly by The Hon. Des Corcoran (Minister of Works, later Premier). This represents the start of the political journey that created the modern service.

At 4pm on Wednesday the 5th of August Jamestown URP and the Bundaleer Group Logistics vehicle responded to a large diesel spill in Jamestown.

With the use of both vehicles and cones, we blocked the three ways in to the street. Our volunteers then used a dissolving agent to soak up the leak which was approximately 30 metres in length.

Shortly after midday today Jamestown CFS responded the Jamestown HAZMAT appliance to a chemical spill incident in Yunta. Further information of the incident was received during the 130km trip, informing the crew that one of the trailers of a road train was leaking chemical.

Upon arrival our trained HAZMAT crew members suited up in protective suits with breathing protection to investigate the type of chemical involved and take samples for immediate testing to determine the approach of the cleanup.

Our crews worked alongside Peterborough CFS and MFS to then clean up the spilt contents, while a forklift was then utilised to remove the damaged bags to another location on the road train.
