National President Peter Tinley AM was in Launceston over the weekend for the RSL Tasmania State Congress.

More than 17,500 veterans and families call Tasmania home, and RSL Tasmania is showing up for them every day.

In the first half of 2026, 1,129 people joined Social Connections activities across the state. They enjoyed everything from fly fishing to Thai Chi, axe throwing, barista workshops, “Toasty Tuesdays” in Hobart, and communal BBQs from Hobart to Scottsdale. Veterans and families are building community in Tasmania, week after week.

Alongside that, 588 active clients were supported through VeteranHub, with staff and volunteers travelling a total of 34,510 kilometres to make sure no one was out of reach.

RSL Tasmania has also been in the fight on the Defence estate divestment, making sure the Government understands what losing 15 sites means for reserve capability, cadets, and regional communities.

And last but not least, the development of new veteran housing is underway at Moonah, Chigwell and Railton.

Well done RSL Tasmania – a small but mighty team.

Ninety-three community organisations will share more than $2.194 million to deliver projects that honour the service and sacrifice of veterans and families of veterans.

Major Grants in this batch include projects to construct a War Memorial honouring the service of Lake Tyers Aboriginal servicemen and women from the community, and a commemorative event to recognise the 85th anniversary of the loss of the HMAS Sydney II.
