1st Inverloch Scout Group

1st Inverloch Scout Group The aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual development of young people with great fun activities.

Scouting is a worldwide Movement in 161 countries, with distinct age levels and programs that has shaped the development of youth and adults for over 100 years. Scouts are in every part of our community, and Scouts is the biggest
and pre-eminent youth organisation in Australia. More than 20,000 boys, girls, and adults in Victoria from wide cultural or religious backgrounds including those with an

intellectual or physical disability enjoy an unlimited range of activities in
the bush, the sea, the rivers, the towns & cities and the mountains. The aim of Scouting is to encourage the social, physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development of young people so they may play a constructive role in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local and international communities. This aim is achieved through a strong and active program that inspires young people to do their best and to always be prepared. In Victoria we have over 16,000 youth members across the state.

Inverloch Venturer Macey organised a bushwalk these holidays to tick off her OAS Bushwalking 3 badge. A small group of Venturers and Scouts walked from Harmers Haven to Williamsons Beach through the Wonthaggi Heathlands and along the beach.

We picked the nicest day of the school holidays - just a bit of drizzle to begin with.

Scouts enjoyed a night of fire & food to celebrate the end of term.
Andrew from the State Survival team, supported the scouts to learn how to use a ferro rod & striker, light a fire (in slightly damp conditions) and boil water for a hot chocolate or heat can can of beans.
Well done scout Murdoch for leading a great night.

Tonight we invested William at the Desalination Plant Wonthaggi.
Welcome William
A big thank you to Matt, Xavier's dad who gave us a talk about the plant before taking us on a walk around. He showed up what the site looked like before the construction. It certainly has changed. There are so many animals that call it home.
It is such a big site with so many tracks to explore.

Congratulations to former venturer, Flick for receiving your King’s scout certificate at government house on Saturday. Flick also had the honour of giving the response to the Govenor on behalf of all recipients. Why is this such a big deal? Other than being the only venturer invited to speak, part way through Flick’s venturer journey she attended a leadership course. She couldn’t make it through a 2 minute speech to a small audience without crying from anxiety. We might make a big deal about peak awards in scouts but badges are only ever souvenirs of each scouts personal growth journey. Whilst Flick’s time at Inverloch is complete she is very much still scouting as a rover and scout leader, she is also contributing to her community as a girl guide leader and making her love of outdoors her career completing a certificate in outdoor recreation. We couldn’t be prouder of Flick as we are of all of our members.

Clean Up Australia 🇦🇺
Cubs ventured to Wonthaggi to clean up from behind Safeway to the back of the Plaza along the rail trail.
8 bags of rubbish was collected along with recycle cans, not bad for just over an hour.
Well done cubs
