Rural Outreach & Support Service (ROSS) is a non-profit community organisation that provides a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable, marginalised and disad

vantaged men, women, youth and families. Services are needs based and developed based on the particular circumstances of each client. Through our programs we provide clients with information about services available to them and work with them on an individual or group basis to develop personal capacity, skills, self-worth and independence through education. Our service programs also assist those perpetrating or experiencing domestic violence as well as focusing on early intervention and/or prevention by reaching out to our youth with programs such as LoveBites, Be Cool Be Calm and Shark Cage. The Rural Outreach & Support Service eligibility criterion is non-discriminatory. Time spent doing our programs can go towards Work Development Orders to assist in paying off State Debt. Our services reach out to the communities of Inverell, Ashford, Delungra, Warialda, Bingara, Glen Innes, and Tenterfield. Advocacy & Support:
Rural Outreach & Support Service provides advocacy and support to clients who lack confidence or need a support person. Outreach:
The Service provides follow-up of clients by phone, group, home visits and outreach. Outreach is provided for a period that is to be determined between Client and Staff. Referral:
Workers at the Service have a current working knowledge of Health, Legal, Department of Communities and Justice, Housing and Community services that are available to Clients. As part of the service assessment process, workers will identify which of the Client’s needs can be met by the Service and when a referral to another service may be more appropriate. With the consent of Clients workers can pass on contact details to other services who can then make the contact themselves. Or, if the Client prefers, the worker can make the initial contact on the Clients behalf.

Rural Outreach & Support Service was over the moon to receive this generous donation. Homelessness is ever present in Inverell and something our staff deal with on a daily basis. To have these Shelter Bags to give to those people experiencing homelessness will go a long way in providing a little bit of warmth and comfort in the colder months. Thank you.🙏

We were delighted to be able to present the Rural Outreach & Support Service with 20 Shelter bags! Funded by a Rotary district grant, these light weight, tough and portable swags are going straight to people in our community experiencing homelessness.

Shelterbags for the Homeless is a charity that aims to provide shelter and warmth to the homeless people of Australia by distributing Shelterbags. These bags are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. Check out https://www.shelterbags.org.au/ for more information including how to donate to this fantastic and much need cause.

Today, an entire community is grieving alongside a mother and her children whose lives were taken far too soon.

There are no words strong enough for a loss like this. No family should ever have their future stolen in such a heartbreaking way. A mother’s love is meant to be a place of safety, warmth and endless hope for her children.

Tonight, people across Australia are holding their loved ones a little tighter and thinking of the family, friends and all those left shattered by this tragedy.

May the mother and children be remembered not for the horror of how they were taken, but for the love they shared, the lives they lived and the memories they leave behind.

Rest peacefully. You will never be forgotten.

Domestic violence is not a “private issue” behind closed doors. It destroys families, traumatises children, leaves lifelong scars and, far too often, ends in lives being stolen.

No one should live in fear in their own home. The growing number of assaults, murders and police callouts across Australia shows this is not isolated it is an epidemic.

Real change starts when people stop excusing violence, stop staying silent, and start holding perpetrators accountable.

Sometimes… a hug is answering a question words could never explain.

Not every anger outburst is really about anger.

👉Sometimes it’s loneliness.
👉Sometimes it’s emotional exhaustion.
👉Sometimes it’s the silent cry of someone longing to feel seen, safe, loved, and connected again.

In relationships, we often rush to defend ourselves, argue back, or pull away… when what the other person may truly need is comfort.

Never underestimate the healing power of genuine affection.

A hug can calm fears, soften tension, restore connection, and say: “I’m here. We’re okay.”

Love is not always found in big speeches.
Sometimes, it lives quietly in presence, patience, and open arms. ❤️

Today, on National Domestic and Family Violence Awareness Day, we pause to remember and honour the lives lost to domestic and family violence.
Tonight, we invite you to Campbell Park at 5.30pm to light a candle in their memory — a small act of reflection, solidarity, and hope for a future free from violence. 🕯️
