Medieval camp is coming and we can’t be more excited!! We’ve been working hard on our most important preparations…might think about starting on our packing after we get home on Thursday night?

Good riddance holidays, hooray for back to Scouts day!! All sections of the Inverell Scout Group are back on deck TONIGHT from 6pm.

What do we do at scouts? We support our youth members to grow in confidence and independence, fostering a spirit of adventure and community spirit, through games, traditional scouting skills, outdoor activities and creativity. Our group ranges from kindergarteners in Joeys, through to Venturers learning to drive and working through their final years of schooling.

If you’d like to chat about how your young person could benefit from Scouting, drop us a DM!

What a beautiful morning for brekkie at the markets!! We are set up in Campbell Park, and how flash does our new trailer look now it’s all finished?

We are so thankful for all our sponsors who made it possible - Squadron Energy, Inverell Apex, Smart Trailers Glen Innes, Simpsons Smash Repairs, and Print Fresh. Thank you for supporting our little group!

Over the last 18 months or so, we have had three youth members graduate into the next section, and all three have successfully completed their peak awards before moving up - one Australian Scout Award, and two Grey Wolfs.

These awards are not easy and require dedication by the youth, and support of the leader. I think it’s testament to the strength and commitment of our group and leadership, that our little group has successfully supported all graduating members who wish to aim for a peak award, to achieve it.

This past weekend, our next two Cubs due to move up, led a patrol of six cubs on a 10km Adventurous Journey. Along the way, we learned about conservation, navigation, and UHF radio skills (as well as how to stay chill when a slithery stickybeak pops by to see what’s going on!)

Congratulations B & T, it was a fabulous day out! (Even if it’s taken until Thursday for this lowly social media manager to regain full strength in my legs again!!)

The end of term is coming up fast, but there’s still plenty happening at Inverell Scouts!! We have a Grey Wolf hike coming up, our end of term combined night, a wee break from Thursday activities over the school holidays (with one of our Venturers off to Winter School), TWO market weekends, and then straight back into it with our monthly committee & parent meeting. We then look forward to welcoming everyone back to Scouts on 23rd July.

Stay warm and adventurous, little Scouts!

Region Rally Runners-up 🎉🎉🎉 not a bad effort for a combined-troop patrol, where our three Inverell Scouts/Cub were joined by two new friends from Tamworth Oxley. The lads made firm friendships, launched Buddy The Dummy across the creek, hiked through the hills, and wowed the camp with their super groovy tie dye patrol jumpers.

Thanks for the fun weekend, Tamworth Oxley Scout Group, it was a blast Rallying with you! Thanks also to our leaders and venturer for supporting our kiddos, the organising team for a great camp, and all the leaders creating fun and engaging bases.

Now to catch up on the washing and air out the sleeping bags before the next camp rolls around!

It’s overcast, it’s cool, it’s drizzly…most people are cozying up inside by the fire. But scouts? They’re built different.

This weekend, our leaders, Venturers, Scouts and a couple of the older cubs, are off at North West Region Rally. There’s a saying I read once, when my little scout was a wee fellow: there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad preparation. Being scouts, we are embodying Be Prepared, and with super warm sleeping bags, plenty of jumpers, and an adventurous spirit, our Inverell contingent have headed off, determined to enjoy the fun of rally, even in the drizzle.

Happy camping, Scouts!
