One of many artefacts from Mexico in the exhibition.
Handcrafted figure of Our Blessed Lady of Solitude, the patron saint of Oaxaca, Mexico. Always rendered with hands clasped in prayer, this portrayal of the Virgin Mary commemorates Mary's solitude on Holy Saturday, the day after the Crucifixion and before the Resurrection. It represents her sorrow and reflection on the death of her son.
Sold as a souvenir magnet in Plaza de la Danza in the Oaxaca City centre, gift from friend Ariela.
