Over the weekend we saw Scouts, Cubs, and Joeys from the local area come together to participate in Jamboree of the Air.
With assistance from the Albury Wodonga Amateur Radio Club we made many successful contacts throughout the afternoon from our Camp on Kirbys Reserve (since Camp Nelson is temporarily unavailable)
Hopefully we'll be able to host JOTA again next year!
Thanks all for your attendance
As they say 73's, VK2SBD out.

Rotary Club of Albury NSW
Recently Camp Nelson was lucky enough to be Granted $10,000 from the Rotary Club of Albury for a new mower.
Maintaining Camp Nelson presents some challenges with a large area and hilly terrain, and our older machines were just not up to the task any more.
With help from Rotary, fundraisers, and a generous personal donation we were able to get a machine that is really up to the task! It's got the power to get the job done, and the safety features like roll over protection to keep our maintenance volunteers safe.
Thanks also to Wodonga Pumps and Mowers for bringing this machine in to our price range!
Hopefully you've driven by Camp Nelson and been able to see the difference

Thanks to DLG Aluminium & Glazing for supplying our camp with some screens doors, mesh, and mirror for the toilet & shower block.
This will help to keep the friendly wasps from moving in and making their nests inside the building.
Thanks to the Ettamogah Venturers for organising this project to make the camp more user friendly.

This weekend Camp Nelson hosted the annual Scout Camp Castles and Catapults.
Scouts constructed Castles in the trees, and Catapults to lay siege with an arsenal of sponges.
Well done to the Super Mega Milos of 1st Lavington and 1st Albury combined for taking home the trophy.
Special shout out to the Ettamogah Venturers for coming along to assist and provide some extra target practice.
Thanks to all for coming along, and thanks to all the Leaders who gave up their time to make this event possible.

It's time to review our uniform! 20 years ago, Scouts Australia made the switch from all-khaki to navy blue shirts. And in 2020, we added the option of long-sleeved lightweight navy blue shirts. But with 114 uniform options to choose from, it's time to see what you, our members, value in terms of design, style, and cost.

Take our survey now: https://forms.office.com/r/WmSHX4tH0a

And for the younger members, join our colouring competition! With prizes for Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts, this is a fun way to give your input on the uniform revamp.

Download the activity sheets and enter the competition: https://scouts.com.au/blog/2023/01/24/uniform-review/

Well well well, what's going on here?
A new kitchen has appeared in the hall thanks to some funding from the Community Building Partnership Grants, and of course the hard work of our volunteers.
A couple of before and after photos here, in case you need to remember what was and wasn't there before.
We're also in the process of installing some stoves too.
This will make our hall much more functional.

Scouts, we will see you all soon for 2022 Castles and Catapults!
Site will be open from 7pm
Only leaders cars with Unit gear will be permitted through the main gate. The ground is quite soft so please ask all parents doing drop off and pick up to park out the front along the fence line. This will mean Scouts will need to carry in their personal gear.
We're camping on the reserve next door, as our lower camping area is currently part of the river system.
