Dom's Place

Dom's Place Supporting men, women and families who are experiencing, or are at risk of homelessness. Drop in when you like, no appointment needed!

Dom's Place is a 'one-stop-shop,' an inclusive space where people can feel safe and connected within the community. Dom's Place shares its name and values with our friend Dom, a delightful young man who was involved with CatholicCare until his passing in 2021. It operates as a 'one-stop-shop,' an inclusive space where people can feel safe and connected. Someone might pop in to get a meal, wash the

ir clothes and chat with a social worker to address housing needs. A vulnerable young person could come and play a game of pool with their friends. Another might access cooking classes and connect with volunteer and employment pathways. It’s a place for people to come together and hang out, reducing isolation and disconnection from community. Case management, counselling, groups and mental health supports will be available, as well as referrals to other services as needed. Other local services will also operate from Dom’s Place including legal, housing, cultural, financial and medical services.

On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the sound of conversation blends with the hiss of steamed milk and the grinding of coffee beans. Visitors who are now trained as baristas take orders, call out names, and manage the flow of customers, gaining practical experience in a safe and supportive environment.

Eight Dom’s Place visitors recently completed barista training, and the cart gives them the chance to put their new skills into action. The coffee cart isn’t just about serving coffee – it’s a practical way for them to develop pre-employment skills while contributing to the community.

Find out how homelessness employment initiatives at Dom's Place empower individuals through practical training and community engagement.

Dom's Place Coffee Cart Officially Launches
Grand Opening Tuesday 10 February 2026
11:00am to 1:00pm

After months of planning, learning, and growing together, we’re excited to invite you to the official launch of our coffee cart.

This project was created with intention built around education, hands-on training, and skill development in both coffee making and interpersonal skills in partnership with our counselling team & Hornsby Community Colleges. The cart has been introduced to individuals experiencing hardship, homelessness, and social isolation, offering more than just coffee. It provides routine, connection, and a safe space to learn, grow, and give back.
Through this program, participants have had the opportunity to build practical skills, develop confidence, and explore new possibilities that may not have otherwise been accessible to them.

We would love for you to join us to celebrate this milestone, meet the people behind the project and enjoy a cup of coffee. Our visitors are excited to share their newly learned skills with you.

Launch details are attached. Pop past anytime from 11-1pm.
