Cadets & Families,

Tonight, Tues 17 March 2026, 71 ACU will be going to the WTSS (Weapons Training Simulation System) on Robertson Bks. Map attached. The WTSS is very close to our old unit venue. Cadets will be firing a rifle connected to a computer, firing a laser not bullets. Each cadet will have a coach. Gates 1 (Thorngate Rd) and 8 (McMillan's Rd) will be open for cadets.

Any cadets parents who are military and are willing to assist at the WTTS you are welcome. Please wear uniform.

Next week (24 Mar 2026) will be at the Northern Gym.

On Tuesday, 10 Mar 2026 Larrakon Group attended the officially opening of 71 ACU’s new facilities at Weir Park, Robertson Barracks. They conducted a handover with the unit OC and presented 71 ACU Palmerston with unit T-shirts.

They were a big hit with both Cadets and Staff, and will be worn proudly.

Interested in joining Australian Army Cadets!

71 ACU - Palmerston is having a 'Recruit Introduction Night' at Robertson Barracks on Tues, 17 February 2026, from 6:30 to 9pm. Access to the barracks is from the gate on McMillans Rd. A staff member will be at the gate between 6 and 6:30pm to allow entry and give directions.

Come along and check us out. Application forms will be available. To complete an application we will need some form of 'proof of age' - birth certificate, passport or school ID.

Expressions of Interest NOW OPEN

The Australian Army Cadets have been invited to send cadets to the United Kingdom for the 2026 International Cadet Exchange.

📅 25 June – 16 July 2026
📍 Wales | Scotland | London
🎯 Adventure training, military skills & cultural experiences
💰 All expenses covered



✅ CADET REQUIREMENTS

• Aged 14–17 years (must not turn 18 before or during travel)
• Minimum 12 months service in the cadet program
• Hold or be able to obtain a passport (valid 6 months after travel)
• Meet UK foreign travel vaccination requirements
• Pass pre-selection fitness testing:
– Beep test 5.5 or higher
– 30m swim in AMCU with joggers
– 2 minutes treading water
• Parent / guardian permission to apply

Welcome back to all 71 ACU Staff & Cadets.

Tues, 3rd Feb 2026 - 71 ACU will resume parading.
Please go to our normal venue 1 CSSB. Usual time - 6:30 to 9pm. Uniform is optional, PT gear will be fine. After introductions, 71ACU Training Program and other current topics. Some cadets will be packing our resources, others will be taken to our new location to organize furniture etc.

Sat, 7th Feb 2026 - is the 'Welcome to the Top End 2026 at the Darwin Convention Centre, 9am to 1pm.
Everyone is welcome to visit. Cadets will be having an information stand. Those interested in being on the stand need a consent (email sent out by MAJ(AAC) Julie Andrew last Friday).

Tues, 17th Feb 2026 – 71 ACU we will be conducting a Recruitment Night for potential new cadets. We are looking forward to meeting you 😀
