It was great to connect with students at University of Tasmania last week for our Know Your Workplace Rights session at City accommodation, Hytten Hall.

Organised in partnership with Tasmanian University Student Association - TUSA and with support from UTAS clubs and societies, the session provided students with practical information about their rights at work, recent Migration Act changes and the protections available to workers on temporary visas.

A big thank you to our union friends from the HACSU Tasmania, NTEU Tasmanian Division, United Workers Union, and SDA Union Tasmania for joining us and sharing how unions support workers across different industries.

We were also grateful to be joined by Joshua Strutt, CEO and Principal Solicitor at IARC - Immigration Advice & Rights Centre Inc, who spoke about visa protections and where students can seek help if something goes wrong at work.

Thank you to everyone who came along and joined the session. We look forward to continuing these discussions with students across Tasmania.
