SV Rhona H - Heritage Sailing Tasmania Tourism Accredited Boat Cruise: sail on an historic 1942 Gaff Rigged ketch. Sails always set! SV Rhona H ~ Heritage Sailing Tasmania where SAILS are ALWAYS SET!

This is the reason why one of guests way back in 2014 called us “The Ship that Sails” and it has stuck ever since. We set sails as quickly as possible on departure, emulating what the trading ketches and sailing barges like the “May Queen” did in the age of sail. The boat is historic, built for the Youl family in 1942 as a ketch and then owned by Max Hardy from around 1946 who removed one of the m

asts. She had a long history as a cray and couta boat with numerous owners before being converted to her current rig: gaff rig topsail ketch. Under sail is peaceful and hearing the sounds of the water is quite different once the engine is off. Hard to spot, we often hear penguins close by.
