We all have a story or a connection to the Royal Hobart Hospital. For Jake from Classic Guitars & Amps, it's one he'll never forget.

Just 12 months ago, Jake came dangerously close to not making it home. Battling pneumonia, influenza A, respiratory sepsis and meningitis all at once, it was the skill, dedication and care of the Royal's staff that helped save his life and get him back to his family.

That's why he's supporting Rock for the Royal.

As his way of giving back, Jake donated an incredible $2,000 guitar prize pack for our Air Guitar Challenge - helping turn one second chance into support for many more Tasmanians.

🎸 Huonville, you rocked it!

A huge thank you to everyone who got behind Rock ’N’ Roll Bowls at Huonville Bowls & Community Club, raising more than $1,250 for the Royal Hobart Hospital Foundation as part of Rock for the Royal!

From barefoot bowls to rock ’n’ roll tunes and some fantastic outfits, it was a great night bringing people together for a cause close to home.

To the organisers, everyone who came along and all those who helped make the night happen, thank you for turning a fun night out into support for healthcare in Tasmania.

The money raised will help fund medical research, hospital equipment and patient care at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Every dollar raised stays in Tasmania. ❤️

“At the scariest time in your life, when your child is critically unwell, the nurses become like family. And so the Dover Fun Run came from the question, ‘How do we give back?’

For Gemma Claughton-Skinner, that question became something extraordinary. ❤️

This week on Your Hospital, Gemma shares the story behind the Dover Fun Run, alongside Julie Doran from the Neonatal & Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Since 2019, the Dover Fun Run has raised more than $125,000 for the Royal Hobart Hospital’s paediatric ward, helping support the care of children and their families when they need it most.
