As the 2026 ANJA Nature Journalling Retreat comes to a close today, we just want to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their creativity, curiosity, stories, sketches, and love for nature. We hope you leave feeling inspired, with new friendships formed and fresh ideas to carry into your journalling practice.

The countdown is almost over, the ANJA Retreat begins this Friday, and we could not be more excited to welcome everyone to beautiful Tasmania for a weekend of creativity, connection, curiosity, and time in nature.

Over the coming days, artists, nature journalers, sketchers, storytellers, and observers from across Australia will gather at Steele’s Island Resort to share workshops, conversations, demonstrations, and moments of quiet discovery in the landscape.

To all those travelling near and far, thank you for being part of this gathering. We cannot wait to meet you, learn alongside you, and fill pages together with the colours, textures, and stories.

ANJA 2026 Weekend Retreat

This talk on wildlife and habitat conservation focuses on the iconic Tasmanian Devil and other wildlife species. Phil will show us how to look deeply into an area and connect to all aspects of nature as a means to better understand conservation practices. We will even see some taxidermied animals.

Phil has dedicated years to protecting Devils from the facial tumor disease and working in parks jointly managed with traditional owners in the Northern Territory and he is a proud Land for Wildlife member.
