During 2025/26, IIT undertook a strategic refresh of our Board, welcoming new members into leadership roles aligned to our inclusive initiatives and positive impact objectives.

Now entering our 6th year, IIT continues to stand with people in our community experiencing exclusion or reduced access to mainstream opportunities due to disability, stigma, disadvantage, or inequality.

What began as a small volunteer-led vision has grown into an award-winning NFP organisation delivering statewide inclusion initiatives, including inclusive sports and industry programs, and broader community partnerships focused on creating meaningful social impact.

Our appreciation goes to all the foundation and past Directors who have helped establish and lead the organisation into such a positive position.

We remain proudly independent, lived-experience driven, and committed to ensuring that people experiencing exclusion are seen, included, respected, and empowered to participate fully in community life.

Calling all businesses with volumes of eligible containers to connect with IIT as a Recycle Rewards Donation Partner, helping fund blind and low vision sports in Tasmania.

IIT doesn’t receive any government funding for our specialised, award-winning, statewide BLV sports programs, including the highly successful Blind Cricket Tasmania initiative.

So like many NFP organisations, we rely on community support, from BBQs, raffles and events through to sponsorships and business partnerships – just like this one!

If your business can host one of our specially designed wheelie bins in your collection area, we’ll handle the entire process from pick-up and scanning through to direct donation to IIT.

We do all this in partnership with SEED, which employs people with disabilities in the process too. Win-win!

It’s simple, easy, and requires no extra work from your staff.

And most importantly, you’ll be making a real difference by helping people with vision impairment access sport and enjoy the physical, social, and mental benefits that come with it.

To have a chat, please DM us or contact our CEO on 0407 870 034 or [email protected]

Let’s team up to deliver a positive impact for all involved.
Thank you for your support!

Turning Containers Into BLV Cricket Opportunities 🏏♻️

Customs House Hotel, Inclusive Innovations Tasmania (IIT) and Social Enterprise, Employment and Diversity (SEED) have joined forces to leverage the Recycle Rewards Scheme, turning eligible containers into funding that will help grow Blind Cricket Tasmania (BCT) activities across the state.

SEED is a social enterprise running Tasmania's biggest recycling depot in the South of the state. Their recycle container collection service also creates paid employment opportunities for people living with disability, making this partnership a true win-win for community inclusion.

Customs House owner, Paul Jubb, jumped at the opportunity to redirect containers from the pub to support IIT and BCT, backing a simple idea with real impact...

"𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙮 𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝘽𝙇𝙑 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩 '𝙏𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙨' 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙪𝙥 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙄 𝙟𝙪𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙤𝙪𝙩."

We’re incredibly grateful for Paul’s support and shared vision in helping make inclusion mainstream through sport - and showing how local businesses like his can play a meaningful role in helping build sustainable, accessible sports opportunities for people living with vision impairment.

Thanks also to SEED, who are a key partner in bringing this initiative to life.

That's real teamwork in action!

Our recent IIT BLV Multi-Sports Come & Try Day in Hobart was another successful event, as the last session scheduled for this summer. Look out for our winter sessions announced in the coming weeks :)

This three event statewide summer series was made possible through our fantastic partnership with CHAD Care Services, who have also enabled the expansion of the sports we can now offer.

Thanks also go to our amazing volunteers, partners, and supporters for their continued help.

We aim to achieve two key goals at these events:

1. Creating more opportunities for people who are blind or have low vision to experience the benefits of sport, in physical, social and mental health terms.

2. Giving sighted people the chance to step into the shoes of BLV participants – building awareness and understanding, and creating more passionate advocates for greater community inclusion.

It was a fantastic day, and we can't wait to do it again over the winter months!

If you’d like to learn more about our BLV Sports activities, please contact IIT's CEO, Sunny Drury, on 0407 870 034 or [email protected].

🏏 What a day for BLV SONIX Cricket, and Community Club Inclusion in Tasmania!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the mighty Mowbray Cricket Club for the historic launch of the Tasmanian Inclusion Club Cup (TICC) and the first ever game of BLV SONIX Cricket.

In an unforgettable match, the Blind Cricket Tasmania (BCT) Tigers took on a senior squad and northern T20 champions from Mowbray Eagles CC, marking the first time many blind and low vision (BLV) players have competed against a mainstream cricket side. It was a powerful moment for inclusive sport in Tasmania.

The match also introduced BLV SONIX Cricket – a dynamic, high-energy format designed specifically for BLV players, blending the structure of indoor cricket with the excitement and tempo of T20 - and more!

With 8-a-side teams, 16 overs plus power plays, and Mowbray players wearing vision-impairment simulation glasses, the game created a truly level playing field, equal opportunity to contribute, and an incredible spectacle for players and spectators alike.

The day truly showcased what can happen when clubs embrace inclusion. The skill, spirit and competitiveness on display proved that BLV SONIX Cricket is exciting, competitive and inspiring to play and watch!

Massive thanks to Mowbray Cricket Club for enthusiastically embracing the challenge, hosting the game, and setting a powerful example for community sport. You were too good this time, but we'll be back next year to hopefully win the Cup back!

Also, a special thank you to Everyday Independence for their leadership and support in helping bring this event to life.

So here’s to many more Tas Inclusion Club Cup games against mainstream community clubs, and continuing to grow blind and low vision cricket across Tasmania!

👏 Thank you to the players, volunteers, supporters and families who made the day so special.

BIG thanks to all at Mowbray CC for your passionate support and for such an enjoyable and historic day! Well done to all the players who adapted so quickly to playing with low vision, and the exciting game of BLV SONIX Cricket. The BCT Tigers really appreciated the warm welcome and the spirit of how the game was played. We'll be back next year to try and get the Inclusion Club Cup back! Thanks also to Everyday Independence for their support and for sponsoring the event.
