Shout out to Right Choice Blinds and Awnings for valuing their waste as a resource and reaching out to us about these great cardboard tubes that will be utilised in our programs.

They have an abundance of these tubes that they want to keep out of the skip. If you are looking for a great resource for school holiday activities you might want to call and see if they have some to take.

*Note you will need to be able to transport 3m tubes or bring a means to cut them down to transport.

We love businesses that think twice about what goes in the bin and how others may use their trash as a treasure!

Plastic pollution is devastating the ocean, killing wildlife, contributing to climate change and threatening our health and the health of our planet.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed about the state of the planet and to feel helpless about making change. But simple lifestyle changes made by each of us can have a huge impact en masse.

Take 3 For The Sea "inspires participation in simple actions that reduce the impacts of plastic pollution and waste in the ocean and broader environment."

1. Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway… or anywhere.

2. Take 3 actions to reduce your plastic footprint.

3. Take 3 people on the journey with you.

So whenever you visit one of the beautiful beaches here in lutruwita, remember to always .

Call out for plastic take away containers!

We are looking for clean reusable containers of any size (even tupperware that is excess to your needs) as long as it is clean, intact and has only stored food in previously.

We would much appreciate it as it will be a great support to our "Love Food, Hate Waste" cooking program.

Hommus and yoghurt buckets are also great.

Please drop it off to our centre during school hours.

Thanks very much for your support!

“What the hand does, the mind remembers.”

We prioritise hands-on learning for all students, but especially for our littlest learners. Learning in the Early Years means exploring the world through sight, sound, touch, smell, taste and movement, forming the foundation for thinking, language development and emotion regulation.

Earlier this week, SLC staff joined Field Study Centre teams from across the state for two days of collaboration and learning.

Meeting at Mt. Cameron Field Studies Centre, this was a wonderful opportunity to share current challenges and success stories, explore resources, and put in some of the groundwork to move towards a more unified vision for Field Study Centres in lutruwita. Thank you to all who came, and especially to John at Mt. Cameron for hosting this important Professional Development.

Thanks to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Boomerang Bags sewing bee! It was great to see participants developing their sewing skills and textile discards being upcycled into beautiful bags.

If you missed out, keep an eye on this page as we will be holding another sewing bee in the coming months.
