It was great to visit the Maydena RSL this afternoon to present certificates recognising their outstanding volunteers who were finalists at the Clubs Tasmania Awards.

Congratulations Deb Raspin and Richard Marriott were both finalists in the RSL & Ex-Service Club Volunteer of the Year category — a fantastic achievement and recognition of the incredible contribution they make to their club and community.

President Pat Gillespey accepted Deb’s certificate on her behalf.

It was fantastic to catch up with the team and celebrate their achievements.

TASMANIAN ACTIVE INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS PROGRAM – NOW OPEN!

Does your club need to upgrade or improve its facilities? There is $5 million in funding available through the Tasmanian Government’s Active Infrastructure Grants Program.

The program supports sport and active recreation organisations to build new or upgrade existing infrastructure and help create better places for Tasmanians to get active.

Funding is available for projects including:

🔹 Changerooms, toilets and shower facilities
🔹 LED lighting, including field and safety lighting
🔹 Courts and playing fields
🔹 Synthetic playing surfaces and drainage
🔹 Irrigation and drainage improvements
🔹 Accessible paths and ramps
🔹 Storage and other facility infrastructure
🔹 Fencing around or directly adjoining playing areas

💵 Funding available

Tier 1:
Projects between $60,000 and $100,000

Tier 2:
Projects over $100,000, with grants of up to $500,000

🤝 Club contribution

No co-contribution is required for:

✅ Tier 1 projects ($60,000–$100,000)
✅ Tier 1 or Tier 2 projects located on a government school site

For other projects, clubs must contribute at least 20% of the total project cost, with at least 10% provided as cash. The remainder can be eligible in-kind contributions.

📅 Applications opened: 2 September 2026 at 2.00pm
⏰ Applications close: 2 November 2026 at 2.00pm
🏗️ Projects must be completed by 31 December 2029

This is a fantastic opportunity for Tasmanian sporting and community clubs to invest in their facilities and improve the experience for players, volunteers and the wider community.

Free RSA Course - HOBART (Monday 24th August)
Hospitality Tasmania in partnership with, the Tasmanian Hospitality & Tourism Academy (THTA) is offering free Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training with the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826), for eligible young people aged 14–24 years who are looking to enter the hospitality industry.

This initiative has been developed to support young people who may face barriers to accessing accredited training and who are not currently receiving financial or training support through a school, employer, employment service provider, or another funded program. Funded places are limited and will be prioritised for applicants who would otherwise be unable to access RSA training.

👏 We’re helping remove one of the first barriers for young Tasmanians looking to get a start in hospitality.

Hospitality Tasmania is investing $15,000 to fund free Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training for eligible young people aged 15–24 in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport, delivered through the Tasmanian Hospitality and Tourism Academy (THTA). 🍺

The initiative comes alongside a new $2.55 million, three-year funding agreement from the Tasmanian Government to Tasmanian Hospitality & Tourism Academy, supporting training and workforce development across Tasmania’s hospitality and tourism industries.

For a young person looking for their first job, getting the right qualification can be the difference between wanting an opportunity and being ready to take one, and we’re proud to support a practical initiative that helps more young Tasmanians take that first step, while investing in the future workforce our industry needs. 🙌
