Culturally Diverse Alliance of Tasmania Inc. Not-for-profit The vision and mission of the Culturally Diverse Alliance of Tasmania (CDAT) Inc.

is to cultivate, promote, inspire and work with our diverse Tasmanian communities to mentor and share knowledge, for the development of our society through education and information. With the increase in population growth, the noticeable change in demographics and the various migrant trajectories and points of intersection into Tasmania, CDAT is a new organisation that focuses on working alongside

policymakers and State Government to account for future changes. With our long-standing, new and emerging migrant communities through the power of unparalleled storytelling, reflecting on our shared journeys – CDAT endeavours to make Tasmania a place where each person feels they belong. Through mentoring, education and advocacy, CDAT aims to fill an increasing gap in the needs, demands, issues and solutions that are presenting itself in our Tasmanian community, by fostering inclusion and social cohesion. CDAT aims to work beside all tiers of Government to foster a community where each person will have the opportunity to achieve his/her/their fullest potential and participate in and contribute to various aspects of life and living.

Let’s Talk About Racism in Tasmania*

Have you seen, heard, or experienced racism in Tasmania? Join us for an important conversation where we’ll discuss how we can reduce racism and its impact in our community.

📅 Date: Thursday 3 April
⏰ Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
📍 Location: Kingborough Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way Kingston

This event will be led by Dr Zelinda Sherlock from Sherlock & Dutta Consulting, who will facilitate the discussion and share insights into the ongoing project aimed at addressing racism within Tasmania.

Racism affects a wide section of the community, with profound impacts at both the personal and professional levels.

It also threatens the social cohesion that holds our community together. National research has shown that racism has a clear link to mental health challenges and brings a significant economic cost to society.

This is your chance to voice your thoughts, share your experiences, and be part of the solution. We want to hear from YOU! 💬

*This event is supported by the Tasmanian Government as part of the Social Cohesion Grants program, auspiced by the Royal Bengal Club of Tasmania.

The grant funds a comprehensive research project on the prevalence of racism in Tasmania, using various research methods to collect data and produce a detailed report for the government.
